I dont know, first I heard of it, to me just makes the whole thing even weirder.

As I suspected there are study guides for other historical TV shows like Spartacus (2010) and I, Claudius (1976). I can understand not liking something. But I think trying to find evil where there probably is none, starts looking a bit rabid.

Rabid or Cautious hmmm ..... I do not remember Jesus being the topic in the shows you mention, but I also was not aware therere were study guides for them.

I figured there would be for shows that take place during a certain period of history where there's a lot of names, places and events taking place that are based on fact. I doubted that The Chosen was unique in that regard.

Curious, if the Chosen study guides cover the 2% of the show that is supposed to be scriptural, or the 98% that is admittedly not and if new believers or even seasoned believers would know the difference ..... or care anymore to know.

I don't know why anyone would expect a show like that to stick only to scripture. There's several acted out movies that purely contain the entire gospel of Matthew, or Mark, or Luke, or John and they're only about 3 hours long. It would be impossible to have a TV series about the gospel that's sola scriptura. So a TV show that's going to last say 5 seasons is going to have to have a lot of filler.

Which is the reason why I didn't bother watching this thing, because I figured that was going to be the case. In episode whatever, Mary Magdalin has to find a new house to move into and settle with the tax collector etc. Jesus gets an order from Lucas Capericus to build ten cabinets. Whatever. Side stories that aren't scriptural, but possibly could have occurred. That's what TV dramas, even ones based on fact, contain.

It's 38 episodes so far. Gospel only events and dialog would have lasted 5 or 6 episodes at best.

I agree with that. That's why I have biblical Jesus vs secular Jesus in my signature. I guess I'll have to see what's actually wrong with this show along those lines.

I'm sure there's volumes of books about how evil the Lutherans, Baptists, Pentecostals etc are. Or how evil Protestantism in general is. Not to mention the library of how evil Catholicism is. And then of course there's a zillion books about how evil the Bible and Christianity is.

But you know, the irony is that I'll bet I won't get any credit from Bible Highlighter for the fact that I've never seen Mel Gibson's, The Passion of the Christ.

The Passion of the Christ is also unbiblical and wrong. I never was a fan of that film. I have thrown into the trash all my Christian films that depict Jesus in them. I used to really like the movies called, Risen and the new Ben Hur remake. But after discussing the topic of idol images of Jesus, I threw out those films that depict Christ. Billy Graham said he prayed to the Lord thinking of the Jesus actor from the Passion of the Christ. So there is an impression these films or shows will make upon men’s minds automatically (Which is wrong).

Jesus did not really look like that and even if He did, God does not want us to create or make idol images whereby men can worship them without even thinking about it. The Chosen series is a global sensation and has an influence unlike the shows you mentioned. But creating study guides for any show or film that depicts Jesus is wrong because it is acting like it is on par with Scripture when it isn’t. We are commanded to study God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15), and not study guides of fables or the imaginations of men. That is why the Chosen is just stupid. Then again, our culture worships TV And movies. So it is not surprising that somebody would one day successfully create another Jesus for people to follow (through film) instead of the Biblical Jesus.

But the Bible and true Christianity is not evil and it stands in stark contrast to the many denominations that are in existence today. So you cannot lump the Bible and true Christianity into the melting pot of the various denominations.

That sort of thing isn't anything new. I remember there being study guides for the T.V. mini-series based on the book of Acts that was done 10 years ago. Not that I ever used any of them............................no, I just watched the show.

Such a mini series never became popular enough where a lot of people would want to even use such a study guide for it. I imagine some may have bought it, but it was probably not a lot of people. The Chosen is hugely popular and therefore it influences more people down the dark path of trusting a fictional show rather than the Bible alone, which is scary (if you do not see the problem in such a thing). Then again, I would say that the Chosen is a test by God. It merely shows how Christians today are biblically illiterate if they eat from this kind of dumpster.

Yeah, I know. It’s downright scary. It means that they take their teachings on the show to be on par with Scripture in that it could guide people spiritually like the Bible. So it’s not just a show. The creators of this series are trying to lead people to be guided spiritually by what they write, and film.

Here is a video review of the Chosen’s first two seasons, and the unbiblical things that are within it.

One particular scene is noteworthy. In the review, it shows a clip of Jesus and John the baptist talking. This sequence is exceptionally disturbing to any Christian who actually knows the Bible. In the scene, Jesus says, “It’s not about rules” to John the Baptist. However, this contradicts Scripture. Jesus says, “if you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Jesus said, “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.” (John 15:10). So Jesus is very much for keeping the rules. Jesus had to keep the rules to fulfill the Law and die on our behalf as the spotless Lamb. The show is one of the biggest insults to Scripture.

Jesus said, ”…depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23). In short, it is the Christian who believes they can justify sin with the thinking they are saved all because they hold to the view that all they have to do is believe on Jesus and nothing else. Meaning, they do not have to stop being a drunk, or a brawler, or anything else that is sinful. All they need is to believe on Jesus. This is the wide gate path many Christians are on, and it is shown clearly in the teachings on the Chosen. That is why the show is immensely popular. It does not teach a message of repentance.

And why would I do that? Well, please read Matthew 7 several times in prayer. The point here is that Jesus is saying NARROW is the way that leads unto life and FEW be there that find it is in context within the sphere of self professing Christianity or believers. So your whole spiel about the majority of teachings out there means nothing because Jesus says only a FEW will find eternal life. It’s not going to be in the majority of your popular candy coated Christian books, movies, etcetera. Many of them teach you can all sin and still be saved just like the Chosen does. This is what you fail to grasp or understand and if you knew the Bible in what it actually says you would also warn people about this show. Any person who has a reverence for God’s Word would either shut this show off in a heartbeat or warn others about it.

But like I said, those who do not believe all of what the Bible says are going to prefer the fantasy of the Chosen over the real deal (i.e., the Holy Scriptures). Folks do not like the bad parts of the Bible the shows that they must repent of their sins, etcetera. In other cases, there are believers who do not believe the Bible alone is the sole guide for all matters of faith and practice. They think that they can get spiritual insight from a group of ecumenical men who write a TV series.

Another scene in the Chosen quotes how Jesus called sinners, when the Bible that was trusted for hundreds of years says, that He calls sinners to repentance in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. To have Jesus just say that He calls sinners and He does not call sinners to repentance is a very serious error.
