  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Except Israel bombed the airport and controls the sea, restricts the exits, and has them surrounded by barbed wire! They also attacked fleeing convoys and fire hundreds of missiles into the strip a day. Does your request seem reasonable to you?
It's not enough.

Every Hamas terrorist must be captured or killed... Every..Last..One.

...In the meantime, non-fighters should travel south, where the water is on, and supplies are available.

It was never a rescue mission for families in Gaza. Be honest. By the way didn't Iran threaten some sort of action if there was a ground invasion? Is that the reason Israel paused?

There are estimated 200 hostages,

Israel/IDF can pull off a rescue mission on their terms, so to speak.

Check out,
Entebbe raid/operation Entebbe/operation Thunderbolt/operation Yonaton.

I assume you think that is a Christian opinion?
In the world, we follow the rules of the world. We eat, we drink, we feel pain, we punish our children, we cry, we suffer and we die. These are the rules of the world, and you can thank the first humans for that, but it is our reality.

In this case, the murderers will get captured, and punished for the greatest common good. It is good, but good done in a fallen world.

No. When they are in a population of that size it is not a rescue mission to kill civilians in general, sorry. The rescue mission that was discussed was for a what if scenario that Hamas took hostages in their own hospital.

..from the US Capitol:

A quickly growing demonstration of people chanting “Cease-fire now!” in support of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict has grown in the Cannon House Office Building’s rotunda. Capitol Police are starting to respond.
This is an area in which media members do live shots and where lawmakers do on-camera interviews.
The Post’s Michelle Boorstein said the group includes hundreds of Jews, some in prayer shawls, singing Hebrew peace songs and saying prayers.

It appears that it is more often assumed the IDF has either been reckless or murderous when matters remain unclear. The timing of these incidents also bears scrutiny. It seems too easy to believe like Israel says one thing then does another like telling civilians to evacuate then allegedly bombing evacuees.

The matter of the Palestinian evacuees being hit by Israeli air is actually still being scrutinized but seems to have been assumed by some ( probably many). Reports in the BBC & Financial Times indicate there is a lot investigating that still needs to be done.

There are many accusations, until confirmed they are but propaganda.

As clear as day IDF are not going to trumpet out their intentions.

We need to stick to reality not a lot of "ifs"

Following my original post Wings like Eagles wrote in a post "Seems like a good time to remind some posters to stay on topic."
You seem to be encouraging me not to stay on topic as thought by Wings like Eagles
I explained my reasons for stating these facts in post #256

There are many sources. One is Britannica on an item on Patton:
Britannica

Let's not go off topic as thought by Wings Like Eagles
Just link your sources when when making claims and it is never an issue.

No the convoys were attacked, apartments attacked by Israel. The silly denial about the hospital as far as I am concerned is war propaganda. But in any event even without that what I said is the God honest truth.
As clear as day IDF are not going to trumpet out their intentions.
Actions speak louder than words.
We need to stick to reality not a lot of "ifs"
I did not raise the what if, a poster did, I just responded to it.

That is what was said about ISIS - how are they doing?

....after how many years?

Israel would be wise to learn from the mistakes of the United States in Iraq and our over-reaction to 9-11. In many ways, our country played into the objectives of Al Qaeda.

Israel may do the same with Hamas.

Looks like Hamas blows up their own hospital and blames Israel -

So far, the findings are inconclusive. Three experts we spoke to say it is not consistent with what you would expect from a typical Israeli air strike with a large munition.
J Andres Gannon, an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University, in the US, says the ground explosions appeared to be small, meaning that the heat generated from the impact may have been caused by leftover rocket fuel rather than an explosion from a warhead.
Justin Bronk, senior research fellow at the UK-based Royal United Services Institute, agrees. While it is difficult to be sure at such an early stage, he says, the evidence looks like the explosion was caused by a failed rocket section hitting the car park and causing a fuel and propellant fire.

The Israeli army said Tuesday a strike that hit a Gaza hospital, killing at least 200 people according to Hamas officials, was a rocket misfired by Islamic Jihad Palestinian militants.
"The hospital was hit as a result of a failed rocket launched by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization," it said in a statement.

Where are they?
Mainly in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

IS remained the deadliest terror group globally for the eighth consecutive year, recording the most attacks and deaths of any group in 2022. Despite this, terrorism deaths attributed to IS and its affiliate groups, Islamic State - Khorasan Province (ISK), Islamic State - Sinai Province (ISS) and Islamic State West Africa (ISWA), declined by 16 per cent. However, there has been a rapid increase in deaths attributed to unknown jihadists in the countries where ISWA operates, increasing by 17 times since 2017 to 1,766 terrorism deaths. Given the location, many of these are likely unclaimed attacks by ISWA. If most of the deaths caused by unknown jihadists were included as IS terrorism deaths, then the outcome would have been similar to 2021. Eighteen countries experienced a death from terrorism caused by IS in 2022, a slight decrease from 20 countries the year prior.

Here's a report on the IS in Iraq and Syria.

The Islamic State group still commands between 5,000 and 7,000 members across its former stronghold in Syria and Iraq and its fighters pose the most serious terrorist threat in Afghanistan today, U.N. experts said in a report circulated Monday.

The experts monitoring sanctions against the militant group, also known by its Arab acronym Daesh, said that during the first half of 2023 the threat posed by IS remained “mostly high in conflict zones and low in non-conflict areas.”

But the panel said in a report to the U.N. Security Council that “the overall situation is dynamic,” and despite significant losses in the group's leadership and reduced activity in Syria and Iraq, the risk of its resurgence remains.

“The group has adapted its strategy, embedding itself with local populations, and has exercised caution in choosing battles that are likely to result in limited losses, while rebuilding and recruiting from camps in the northeast of the Syrian Arab Republic and from vulnerable communities, including in neighboring countries,” the experts said.

This is honestly the most polarizing issue that I've ever seen in my life. I am seeing mobs of people denying physical evidence that is in front of their face. That is the power of grievance and the power of hatred. No amount of evidence will ever persuade a person whose mind is made up.

The reason this will likely escalate into a larger war is because of the hatred and animosity. Honestly the anti-Israel crowds in the Arab world in the last 10 days have acted like complete and utter animals.

After seeing so many youtube debates on this issue I've decided to just leave it alone and pray. Absolutely no one's mind is going to be changed on this issue. Everyone has dug their heels in and it doesn't matter what atrocities their side commits, it's always the other person's fault. What an enormous waste of time and energy following this stuff (without the motive to pray).
