Jesus is now the glorified son of Man and Son of God whose throne of authority and power is FAR ABOVE ALL. (Eph. 1: 21)
Yes. I believe now Jesus is the exlalted glorified man. Even as He stood on the earth before He ascended He said that all
authority had been given into His hands.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (Matt. 28:18,19)
Even in the night of the last supper on earth when He humbled Himself to wash the disciples' feet He knew all authority had been given into His hands.
And while supper was taking place, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, that he should betray Him,
Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all into His hands and that He had come forth from God and was going to God, ( John13:2,3)
Even before the inauguration of His ascension to the third heavens He knew all authority had been given into His hands. In His mighty prayer in John 17 before His arrest, trial, and execution He spoke so.
These things Jesus spoke, and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son that the Son may glorify You; Even as You have given Him authority over all flesh to give eternal life to all whom You have given Him. (John 17:1,2)
Yes, He does come back to the earth but this time in power and great glory with His angelic army.
No doubt He comes with an angelic army. But He comes also with His overcoming victorious saints as His bridal army (See
Revelation 19).
Yes He comes with the mighty angels in glory. But the selected remnant of mighty overcoming saints He comes bringing them
with Him.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so also those who have fallen asleep through Jesus, God will bring with Him. ( 1 Thess. 4:14)
Now this does take a little more time of study. In First Thess 4:14 we do not see that a REMNANT [edited] of those who have fallen asleep through Jesus He brings with Him. But elsewhere we see that among all those who have fallen asleep Christ makes a selection of a remnant, like Gideon's little army of 300, to accompany Him from Heaven.
So the
"mighty ones" Christ descends with are not [edited] just angels. The overcomers raptured from among ALL the past who had died in Christ
come with Him. Look at the army that accompanies Jesus to overcome Antichrist and His armies. They are human overcoming saints
who are
called and chosen . . . and most of all
FAITHFUL.
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and they who are with Him, the called and chosen and faithful, will also overcome them. (Rev. 17:14)
But I digress some. The main point we are examining together is whether the Lord Jesus ascends back up to the third
heavens after He sets His feet down on the Mt. of Olives for a glorious vindication and protection of Israel.
I would only add that it is a total glory to God that accompanying Jesus Christ are redeemed, sanctitified, transformed and glorified
human saints. It is not only to His glory that ANGELS accompany Him. It is totally to His glory that He is accompanied by those
for whom salvation has wrought full work.
`they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with power & great glory. And He will send His angels..` (Matt.24: 30 & 31)
Yes indeed. Christ speaking to the disciples as to thier status as ALSO constituents of the nation Israel, He promises all the Israeli tribes of
the land will witness His glorious appearing over the Holy Land.
And at that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matt. 24:30)
But I eagerly await your explanation as to how you know Jesus will ascend back to the third heavens after these events.
`When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him...` (Matt. 25: 31)
Okay. Praise Him He does come in His glory with all the angels. I have not negated this.
I have briefly mentioned that He comes with a remnant of so rewarded overcomers among saved humans.
And this totally to His glory - the glory of the effectiveness of His full salvation to those
called and chosen and faithful.
`the Son of Man comes in His glory, & in the glory of the holy angels.` (Luke 9: 26)
Okay. This is reinforcement of what you indicated. I fully believe Luke as well as Matthew.
`when Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God,..` (2 Thess. 1: 7)
It is not hard to see that mighy angels accompany Christ. It is not as easy for modern CHristians to see that a remnant of His overcoming
saints accompany Him to His glory and the glory of His full salvation. Belieivng the latter does not detract from the former.
See that Jesus brings with Him a exemplary remnant of humans who have undergone (on time) His full process of salvation does not
detract from Him being accimpanied by angels.
Notice that in Hebrews the
FIRSTBORN Son comes again into the inhabited earth with many sons leading THEM also into glory.
And when He brings again the Firstborn into the inhabited earth, He says, “And let all the angels of God worship Him.” (Heb. 1:6)
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in leading many sons into glory, to make the Author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Heb. 2:10)
You see the Only-begotten Son has by then also become the Firstborn Son of many sons.
His salvation is to conform all these sons into the image of Himself as their Firstborn, the Elder Brother.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers; (Rom. 8:28,29)
Do you know WHY there is a millennial kingdom of a thousand years before the eternal age of a new heaven and a new earth?
One reason is that throughout history of all God's saved ones a minority went on to let His complete work over them reach maturity.
As diligent students who graduated ON TIME they are ready for the graduation celebration. No futher remedial time like "summer school"
is needed. It is right that they be rewarded with participation in the 1,000 year kingdom as a prize.
I say again, this is to the glory of Jesus Christ and the effectiveness of His salvation. This is a glory to God.
All saved are eternally saved. But there are the saved REWARDED and the saved who during the millennial reign will "suffer loss"
though they still are saved.
If anyone’s work which he has built upon the foundation remains, he will receive a reward;
If anyone’s work is consumed, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. ( 1 Cor. 3:14,15)
The mighty angels accompany Christ in His descent to earth.
But also the mighty overcomers who are rewarded He brings with Him from ALL the ones who died in Christ.
From
QUANTITY the Lord Jesus obtains a remnant of
QUALITY.
Much more can be said about this. But again, the main thing is I seek your reason for Jesus ascending BACK to the third
heavens after He touches down on earth in Israel.
We're coming up on it below.
After the Lord has dealt with the world`s armies He will judge the nations, then reveal Himself to the people of Judah, then house of David and Jerusalem. (Zech. 12: 7 - 10) The Lord will then appoint His rulership - King David and some Levite priests. (Jer. 30: 9 Isa. 66: 21)
Okay. Now, you're going to tell us on what passage you base your belief that after this "housework" He goes back to Heaven.
Finally, the Lord will return on high. (Ps. 47: 5)
Note: `heaven is my throne, and earth my footstool.` (Isa. 66: 1)
Aha. So here we have finally your reason.
He chose our inheritance for us, / The excellency of Jacob, whom He loved. Selah
God ascends amidst shouting; / Jehovah, at the sound of a trumpet. (Psalm 45:4,5)
Sister, I would consider this a very thin "proof text" to show what you want.
This matter of
"God ascends amidst shouting" I would teach appies to the entire
affair of the awsomeness of Jehovah God reigning in Christ over the planet.
As I read carefully the whole of Psalm 45, I think what is conveyed there is that the whole matter
of God vindicating His rule over the earth is His ascending, His vindicating global government.
In all that He does to bring the world under His control He is ascending, rising, being exalted, being vindicated.
So reading the entire Psalm 45 I don't see verse 5 speaking to the God-man going up again to Heaven after some
preliminary "house keeping" of assigning priests and so forth.
I rather believe everything described there pertains to God ascending up. He rises up to finally universally vindicate His
rulership over the earth.
This is something like
Let God arise; let His enemies be scattered; / And let those who hate Him flee before Him. (Psalm 68:1)
Then you accompany this thought with
Isaiah 66:1a.
Thus says Jehovah, / Heaven is My throne, / And the earth the footstool for My feet.
Great passage this is. However I do not see Christ reigning from the throne of His glory in Jerusalem
as meaning Jehovah is not enthroned in Heaven and the earth is not the footstool of His feet.
I don't see that Christ reigning on earth causes me to say "Hmm. Then Heaven is no longer God's throne and the earth is no longer
the footstool for His feet."
Actually, Jesus Christ being on earth and at the same time somehow present in Heaven seems to be
His mysterious ability in the gospel of John.
And no one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven. (John 3:13)
This mysterious utterance leaves room for us understanding that as the Son of Man was walking on the earth He was
still somehow in heaven -
the Son of Man, who is in heaven.
So I think not Jesus enthroned on the earth detracts from the Son of Man simultaneosly somehow having a heavenly presence.
Thanks for providing your reasons.
