Well you have to think about something,.... if such things were nothing, why has the market for new age stuff and witchcraft been steadily growing since the late 80's?

Because people are gullible and want to believe in "magical" hogwash. That, and the fact that people enduring chronic mistery of some sort, physical or mental, are easy marks for grifters who peddle miracle cures. Always have been.

I mean really, if it is just a bunch of lies and junk, why are so many people caught up in it?
Look at all the ads on social media for stuff that's utter trash that peple flock to buy, even when they're told by endless all and sundry that they're being swindled. One of my favorites is a deviice that "draws electricity right out of the air!", tha has for illustration of a 2 meter halo antenna used by ham radio operators for short range communications. Simple fraud. Another is the tale of the genius who "invents" a miraculous air conditioned that runs on batteries, will cool a large room to +- 65 degrees in minutes, and only costs $129.99. What is it? A swamp cooler, a devide used by people in the American Southwest for over a century. The one the grifters are peddling sells at Walmart for $29.99.

Why do people by this stuff? For a variety of reasons, many of them understandable, none of them reasonable. But con arttists are always on hand wiling to tell the marks any lie that will make them hand over some money. That's Satan in operation, he is, if you recall, the Father of Lies. "Here, I'm powerful, I'll help you", while stealing your goods and enslaving your mind. No magic required.

Witchcraft in particular is definitely on the rise. There are whole internet sites dedicated to it, where you can buy all the needed items for it as well as forums that people can contact one another on and share stories.

Witchcraft is the same old con job, just with a different approach. It offers the suckers powers to cure their ills, real or imaginary, and delivers nothing. It's a lie, you see, Satan's speciality. He's past master of the lie, and he knows how to push all the right emotional and psychological buttons to get people to buy into his fraudulent schemes.

The last thing Christans need to do is try and persuade the credulous that Satan actually grants "powers" of some sort to his poor dupes. Nothing can be futher from the truth. They'er played for pawns, robbed of their goods, their minds enslaved, their wills corrupted, and all for a load of lying promises that Old Nick couldn't keep even if he were so inclined.

Bad example. New cars are demonstrably far, FAR safer then the heavy steel monstrousities of my childhood. The idea that "the car was OK but the driver was killed" isn't something we want to back to.

Only some people are less safe in steel cars.

Paul said that if a person buys food from the market and is not told that it is food offered to idols then he would have no problem eating it. If he was told that it was food offered to idols, then he could refuse it, not because there might be something intrinsically wrong with the food itself, but a matter of preserving a non compromising testimony for Christian purity. Paul says that an idol is nothing at all and so it is up to the believer's own conscience whether he eats it or not.

If a person is given a crystal for decoration purposes and is not told that it has been ritually dedicated for New Age occult use, then the same principle applies.

If you are going to be strict about these things, you would not be able to eat meat from a butcher or supermarket, because sheep and beef are usually killed by the Muslim methods so that Muslims would be able to buy and eat it. Therefore the meat would be ritually offered to Allah as the animal is being killed. Same principle.

I would love to have a big car like one of those Dodge or Chevs, but here in New Zealand cities, the roads are mostly too narrow to safely drive them without either parked cars or vehicles coming the other way. Practically, they were cars suited to American conditions. Most of the ones I have seen here are left hand drive, and the one time I was a passenger in a left hand drive car, I really felt I was in the "suicide seat"!

Good! Time for a little anecdotal info - (something like crystals, but much more popular) -
Investigation was made into some dozens or hundreds, maybe thousands of people
suffering illness of unknown origin, virtually 'untraceable' it seemed, and sometimes
quite a variety of ailments (not all the same in each person).

After long seasons of prayer, a few of them, and then more, recovered after dealing with a curse and with sin appropriately, without using drugs or natural cures other than prayer in Jesus' Name and maybe also authority in His Name.

That sounds good an all Oscarr, but we can't take one principle and try to make it fit across the board. You can certainly try, but you will run into troubles eventually.

The gal I spent most of this year pulling out of a satanist cult had 4 items in her house that were tainted this way. She had picked them up or was given them over the years (she was very much into the occult as her parents were). It took The Lord specifically telling me each item to remove from her house before she stopped being misled back into these folks. She is much better now, but it was very confusing as to why she always had these desires to get back into contact with them. I spent a lot of time in prayer over this trying to help her until The Lord started pointing this out to me. It was like idolatry in a way, an addiction.

I'm not going to spend a whole heap of time on this. There are some things that The Lord can show some people because they have the faith and steadfastness with Him to deal with it, as well as there are some people who are better off locked in their church buildings being ignorant about it. I'm not the later.

Sounds good but consider this...

Every practice banned by the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 had one common element.

Internal spiritual contamination.

Drinking blood (blood is the life carrier and they would drink it warm in order to imbibe the animal spirit)

Fornicating - the one flesh act outside of marriage results in internal spiritual oppression or worse.

Consuming food dedicated to a satanic entity - same issue - internal spiritual contamination.

This is what the early church were worried about because they knew these practices would seriously effect fellowship.
