Three outta four ain't bad. Just seven or eight to go.

House passes three more long-term spending bills, but agriculture bill fails

The House-approved measures would fund the departments of Defense, State and Homeland Security for fiscal year 2024.

Meanwhile, the House failed to pass a piece of legislation that would have funded the Department of Agriculture for a full year. Democrats were joined by more than 25 Republicans in voting against it — some of whom have raised concerns over [rightwing] abortion-related policies in the bill.

To avoid a government shutdown, the Senate and the House have to either pass the same version of 12 appropriations bills before Sunday — time has run out on that course of action — or agree on a deal to fund the government in the short term while they work on the longer-term funding measures.
--

McCarthy seems to be pivoting today to getting a 30 day continuing resolution.

...nothing like waiting until the last day.

OK, so we're (now) agreed that this is not an impediment to Biden's current budget, because it was broadly popular and already (in the past) passed into law (even if it was all a lie).
The name was popular. The substance has led to more biden failures....unless higher inflation, work stoppages, etc. was what he wanted. At least he got his photo op in Michigan.

So then where is the talk about any of the democrats in either of those chambers doing anything? All we hear about is the Republicans, while the democrats seem to be able to sit idly by and watch as the MSM "journalists" attempt to paint everything as being the fault of Republicans.
The Democrats in the Senate helped pass a bipartisan CR. I say helped because even Democrats having a majority in the Senate isn't enough to pass a bill without Republican support. As for the House, the Democrats are the Minority party, and short of getting a number of Republicans to join onto a discharge petition, there is nothing they can do without McCarthy. And McCarthy has already been warned what will happen if any Democrat agrees to support a bill he puts up for vote.

When it does shut down, life will go on. It did every other time.
I'm sure the millions of people suddenly without a paycheck, including every single member of the military, will take comfort in that as they try to feed their families and pay rent.

Millions of women, children risk losing WIC's nutrition assistance if government shuts down

"[WIC] expires ... immediately when the shutdown occurs," Vilsack said.

Hopefully Congress will vote to restore back-food when the shutdown ends. Then the infants can eat all the meals they missed all at once to catch up.
Scaremongering by ABCNews loses its effect when one realizes that they've put out false information before. But don't expect ABCNews to tell you that.

They literally are quoting the person in charge of the Department that manages it. There isn't much room for disinformation there.

Governments can put out disinformation more easily than anyone else. Remember the Covid thing? They put out plenty of disinformation about that, and it's being brought to light. Now they're trying to scare people into turning against Republicans, which is nothing new. This is just the latest attempt. Naturally, the MSM that fully supports the current federal regime is acting as the regime's mouthpiece.

Scare? Nonsense. The media are pointing out the consequences of the inaction of the Republican House.

So rather than ad hominems, perhaps you could post evidence about how they are wrong. From what I can see, you are attacking "the messenger" (whether it be a news outlet or the government) because you can't show that any of this is untrue. The fact is, military members won't be paid after Oct. 1 so long as the government is shut down, same with WIC benefits.

"The government", or at least the ones in it who don't like Republicans, are hardly a "messenger". They are the ones with an interest in making sure that they themselves don't get blamed for anything. The MSM are the ones willing to parrot their rhetoric.

House fails to advance last-ditch stopgap bill as government barrels toward shutdown

Twenty-one Republicans crossed over to vote with all the Democrats against the bill for a vote of 198-232.

McCarthy is the final cause. But if you want some efficient causes...

The 21 GOP lawmakers who voted against the bill were: Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Dan Bishop (N.C.), Lauren Boebert (Colo.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Tim Burchett (Tenn.), Eric Burlison (Mo.), Michael Cloud (Texas), Eli Crane (Ariz.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Wesley Hunt (Texas), Nancy Mace (S.C.), Mary Miller (Ill.), Cory Mills (Fla.), Alex Mooney (W.Va.), Barry Moore (Ala.), Troy Nehls (Texas), Andy Ogles (Tenn.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.) and Keith Self (Texas).

So, again, argue against the message that you believe is false, don't just say they have to be wrong because of who they are. Yes, people often are trying to look after their own interests but that does not mean they are always wrong of spreading false information.

Again, from what I know, the items reported are true; there are real people who will be hurt by a government shutdown. Making logical fallacies does not change those facts.

As for Republican's being blamed, it is hard not to believe it is their fault when they can't even agree on any type of deal to fund the government -- they finally voted once today and enough Republicans voted against it to keep it from passing. At the same time, the House could vote on the bipartisan deal that the Senate passed and it appears as if it would also pass in the House -- but because of a few Republicans who are threatening McCarthy, McCarthy won't allow the House to vote on that bill; despite the fact that McCarthy already agreed to a budget with Biden (through the 2024 election) when they raised the debt ceiling where McCarthy is not honoring the deal made at that time.

Create a bill that cuts wasteful spending, and then they'll agree to sign it. Simple.
But then, would Biden sign it if it doesn't include the wasteful spending he insists upon continuing?
At least the Republicans are keeping the word they gave when they were elected. Should they go back on it in order to appease biden?

They just aren't keeping their word in the deal they made to increase the debt ceiling. But if this is your opinion, why are you trying to defend against the "blame" being given to Republicans -- shouldn't you gladly shoulder the blame since you believe Republicans are doing the right thing?

The budget ball is in the House’s court, if they cannot hit it then we’re all stuck.
Well, at least the GOP is proven correct, government doesn’t work right if you don’t work it right.

How’s about working for what’s best for the citizens of America?
Too “old-fashioned”?
