Trump is asked, "how has your faith grown since you decided in 2015 to run for president?"

"Great question, Such a great question."
"You know, I've seen so much heartache and turmoil," I was a developer, and I did other things. And, you know, I had a wonderful, I had a wonderful life before all this stuff."
"I didn't know what a grand jury was,. "I didn't know what a subpoena; what is a subpoena? I had a wonderful life."
"I'm so glad they asked me the other day a little different question," Are you glad you did it? So you had a great life. Are you glad you did it? I couldn't be more glad. I am so happy I did it because I've made America great. We can do it again."
"Right now, we don't; we are not a great country," We are not a great country."
"But I've gotten to know, because of this, evangelicals, I mean, I know so many people, and they feel so good about themselves and their family, and they base it on religion," he continued. "I had never had that kind of an experience where I got to know so many."
"And Franklin Graham and Paula White, I mean, I know so many people that are so incredible, religious people, and not just Christians, not just evangelicals," he insisted. "You know, when I look at the Catholic faith, you take a look at what the FBI, no, but look at what the FBI is doing to Catholics. They've made them like the enemy." MSNBC
I went to Jesuit University and I am not Christian, but most my family is and I talk to a lot of them. This would have been not a softball question to a practicing Christian, but a T-ball question. Trump blows it because he knows not one thing about nor practices the faith he claims to maintain. It is just a conduit to get where he was to go. It's worse than his "two Corinthians" answer.

You can't talk about what you don't have.

Trump is like a certain kind of nominal Episcopalian or Presbyterian that uses the Church to wrap themselves in respectability, but inwardly they do not even pretend to follow Christ.

Well since you said it that way, you must also include nominal Christians of all denominations. I don't think he is even nominal. He is a wolf, a tare.

It's only been fairly recently that some people have bucked this trend, but historically the wealthy did not go to the same types of churches as the general population. As people got money, they left Baptists and Methodists and became Episcopalian and Presbyterian.

People of his social class are sometimes attracted to Episcopalians or Presbyterians due to the historic social prestige associated with those churches. This has been the case for a very long time. There was an old saying that the Episcopal Church was the "Rolls Royce"" of Protestantism.

Of course, most Episcopalians or Presbyterians aren't hypocrites, but it's a real risk in that denomination where even the former Archbishop of Canterburry, Rowan Williams, has joked about flirting with "salvation by good taste".

Or Trump is just not articulating it well; he is not known as an eloquent speaker, by a long shot. I suspect if he ever had any faith, it has been tried and increased in recent years, considering what a target he has been. But he didn't tell me personally; just a speculation on my part. He doesn't appear to be anti-faith, given his words and actions, and that's about the best we have had in government recently.

To be clear, The Faith is in The Spirit of Christ, an unconditional self-sacrificing Love that exists Eternal. Trump's words and actions are clearly antithetical to The Faith. He speaks as a demagogue who measures his worth in dollars. Below he is expressing "his faith" in his carnal self and subsequently how America's greatness is dependent upon him being in power:

I know what faith is.

And no, he does not say here that America being great " is dependent upon ME being in power."

He merely says it's not great right now, which is accurate. There are other options. We just can't keep doing what we are doing right now, the absolute antithesis of faith.

That is exactly the sentiment he expresses right here:

Trump: "I've made America great". (past tense)
Trump: "Right now, we don't; we are not a great country," (present tense)
Trump: "We can do it again." (future tense)

He's been cited as having contempt for his evangelical supporters, privately, as rubes. He manipulates and uses people: he evidences alot of the Dark Triad traits of machiavellianism and narcissism.

i've found it amazing when people who are just flawed people but they're not bowing the knee to anything worldly. Clearly He's flawed. I find it amazing when the world is so against him it makes me wonder, should i jump on the "i hate trump train"? or should I take a moment to consider why does everyone hate him so much. They hate people that aren't so favored by the world, that aren't clearly involved in freemasonry etc. Look at a good majority of presidents, they have been known to be seen at those events etc, Trump just looks like an odd man out that got a job he wasn't ready for or cut out for.

Don't get me wrong, he is very flawed, and I don't think necessarily that Jesus approves of a good majority of what he's done, but if you look at the options: a bunch of worldly people that are knowingly doing bad behind closed doors or someone that is clearly flawed but he doesn't seem to willingly be involved in negative freeemason etc stuff, i think Jesus is more able to use Trump than say Obama or Hilary or Biden. They are already too far gone, but Trump can be influenced and swayed by Jesus.

And what is everyone doing? They're blaming him for people going to the capital on January 6. They're getting mad at him for doing something I wouldn't be surprised at all if all the presidents have done. Having documents i mean Hilary and her emails Biden and his documents/his sons laptop, it's all a big show really. What we need is someone that can be used by Jesus. That's it. You're not gonna see a strong Christian run for president because to even get to the point of being a candidate that can run ads etc you have to be involved in their secret society, so the next best thing was someone that is just a flawed person but hasn't bowed the knee so to speak.

Trump is definitely an odd ball, and he definitely has flaws, idk personally everything he's involved in, but he seemed to be willing to be used by Jesus more than other presidents. We know his mistakes because he's done them for everyone to see, whereas other presidents are very secretive. You see what they say and then they hide behind closed doors. They seem slimy in secret, Trump is just foolish in public.

This is not to flame Trump or other presidents, but rather to say of all the flawed people Trump seems to be the best to be influenced by Jesus

Trump: 'I alone can fix it'
That final sentence fragment from 2016 is notable, but truncated; the entire statement was "Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it.". That's a bit different context than you are suggesting as he is comparing himself from the insiders running against him.

He is not only saying I am great and can do things. His first statement just says "it was great, it's not great now, it can be great again". That's it.

Yes he just tickles their ears saying what they desperately want to hear.
Actually that's what Newsom and that ilk is doing. Not Trump. He can be really obnoxious in wording but I'd rather see the knife coming than feel it in the back after a smile, so to speak.

What to find out Trumps understanding of faith, ask him. How do you receive God's free gift of Eternal Life and become a born again child of God.

The answer is simple faith/belief in Jesus that Jesus is the resurrection and the life.

Trump's response indicates he didn't even understand the question well enough to lie about it...and over the last two years he's had free access to some of the best theologians and pastors the Christian right has to offer.

Nah, even the most inarticulate Spirit-filled Christian has an answer to that question...the Holy Spirit provides it. He may stutter getting it out, he may use simple words, but he has the answer.
