Donald Trump has a significant lead over President Joe Biden in key swing states heading into the 2024 presidential election, according to a poll.

An Echelon Insights survey of 1,020 likely voters show that 48 percent of those in battleground states said they would definitely or probably vote for the Republican who is the favorite to clinch the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, compared to 41 percent who said they would back Biden.

Last I heard, Trump supporters don't trust the polls.

Opinion | The tell-tale sign Biden is likely to secure a second term

Biden team reported that the president had raised $72 million for the second quarter of 2023 — with $77 million in cash on hand. That total was more than double former President Trump’s fundraising haul for the same period. And, whatever you want to say about Biden, a new internet ad featuring an unexpected endorsement of his legislative accomplishments from House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene suggests that his trolling/social media/political advertising game remains formidable.

Democratic strength in special elections has become a consistent trend this year. According to the folks at Daily Kos Elections, who have put together a handy spreadsheet of special election results so far in 2023, Democrats are running 7 points ahead of 2020 presidential results and 11 points better than 2016. Why does this matter? Because special elections are one of the single best predictors of future political outcomes. In 2017, Democrats overperformed by double digits in special elections, presaging their 40-seat victory in the House of Representatives in 2018.

In short, the best indicator of the current mood of the electorate may not be found in Biden’s poll numbers, the chatter of Democratic donors or perennial discontent among Democratic voters but rather in small, little-covered special elections in which Republicans continue to underperform.

Donald Trump's Unpopularity Hits Highest in One Poll's History

Former President Donald Trump's net favorability now stands at negative 27 points in one major poll [Monmouth] as the Republican continues his campaign for re-election to the White House.

[Biden is at -14% if my math is right.]

[In the head to head matchup, Monmouth has definitely/probably Biden voters at 47% to Trump's 40%.]

And yet Trump caused a recession, and Biden didn't.

Do you just make this stuff up as you go along?

Where is Biden's Ministry of Truth when you need them?

Joe Biden's tenure as the 46th president of the United States began with his inauguration on January 20, 2021.[1][2]

Oh looky there, Biden's massive inflation dropped right in time for the election season. I suspect we'll see gas prices drop in the near future. It has happened for every Presidential election to my recollection. I don't fall for that trick anymore.

I'll vote for the Democratic octogenarian figurehead over the Republican octogenarian figurehead, and I'll hold my nose while doing so, just like last time. They both have many major downsides, but at least Biden is less obnoxiously self-centered and outwardly idiotic and willing to destroy the country to get his way than the challenger is.

This Liberal college in a Liberal State, that I've never even heard of before, can make all of the probability speculations that they wish; even if those predictions fly in the face of what the American people are actually saying.

I've never voted for Trump before; but if he is the GOP nominee; I'll be forced to vote for him this time.

There is just too much at stake.

I've never voted straight ticket before either; but this time I can't take any chance that the Democrats will have an opportunity to gain any more power.

I hate both parties, and this type ^ of reply, so have fun crying and/or rejoicing depending on which letter is after a representative's name. None of these people have the same priorities or values as you do, no matter how much you have to tell yourself they do to stay convinced that it matters that Democrats won't have "an opportunity to gain more power."
