  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did God want us to go to church, or did He want us to live a specific way ?

Since we are the Church (literally) it is not a matter of going to …but we should be fellowshipping together in unity, one with another …. To receive the blessing from God we are to walk as He has directed us to………. put off and put on. I believe once you are born again you have that inner yearning to walk in alignment and harmony.

Does God want us to love God with all our hearts, minds, and strength, or does God want us to love our neighbors as ourselves? We should do both, yes? Properly done, the worship of God transforms us so that we become agents of God's love in the world.

Nobody knows how much, or how little, or specifically what, is or is not absolutely required of another person to be either saved or not saved right now, because that is God's arena and God's arena alone, etc.

We'll find out eventually, etc.

But if you want to be happy as a Christian, you should at least try to do what Jesus and the Bible says, etc.

Which would include trying to live as Jesus says, and fellowship/congregate with other fellow believers at least one day a week to worship if you can, and take that day off, or set aside that day to do it, if you are normally working a lot regularly normally, etc.

God Bless.

So an abbreviated version of a community as originally intended?

Conveniently leaving the rest of the week wide open
If you're a person that works a lot normally, and is always busy, then taking this one day a week off to worship with other believers is very important, but in either case, whether you work a lot or don't, the rest of the week should be spent trying to represent Christ out in and among the world and around your friends and family the best that you can.

In other words establishing a community spirit outside the institution.

Would you not say that with all the divisiveness today something is missing. Are people not being taught that one day a week that self interest is the evil in this world?
Jesus and people who are truly representing him more is what's missing.

Are people being taught that self interest is a evil in this world? I don't know? I suppose it could be being taught sometimes and in some places one day a week, etc?

It is one of the many evils in this world, etc.

Selfishness and self-centeredness does cover a lot.
Yes it started with Eve who put her self interest first before the interests of God. It carried on al through the Bible including past the time when Jesus said the good news that our self interest would no longer be allowed but the God would soon rule the roost once and for all.

We are the church.
We need to meet together for fellowship, prayer and teaching, and then get out there and live for him.
We do not need to own a building and spend time, and money, worrying about how to maintain and make it look pretty. Nor do we need committees to debate clubs, programmes, finance or how to attract people into our building.

Yes , we the church are not an institution but a movement, a counter-culture to the culture of man.
