Did God want us to go to church, or did He want us to live a specific way ?
Did God want us to go to church, or did He want us to live a specific way ?
Yes!Did God want us to go to church, or did He want us to live a specific way ?
So you think both need be inclusive?Yes!
So an abbreviated version of a community as originally intended?Which would include trying to live as Jesus says, and fellowship/congregate with other fellow believers at least one day a week to worship if you can, and take that day off, or set aside that day to do it, if you are normally working a lot regularly normally, etc.
Sure.So an abbreviated version of a community as originally intended?
Conveniently leaving the rest of the week wide openSure.
If you're a person that works a lot normally, and is always busy, then taking this one day a week off to worship with other believers is very important, but in either case, whether you work a lot or don't, the rest of the week should be spent trying to represent Christ out in and among the world and around your friends and family the best that you can.Conveniently leaving the rest of the week wide open
In other words establishing a community spirit outside the institution.but in either case, whether you work a lot or don't, the rest of the week should be spent trying to represent Christ out in and among the world the best that you can.
Trying to maybe, yes.In other words establishing a community spirit outside the institution.
Would you not say that with all the divisiveness today something is missing. Are people not being taught that one day a week that self interest is the evil in this world?Trying to maybe, yes.
Jesus and people who are truly representing him more is what's missing.Would you not say that with all the divisiveness today something is missing. Are people not being taught that one day a week that self interest is the evil in this world?
All stem from that one characteristic. God makes that clear but the institution does not.It is one of the many evils in this world, etc.
Selfishness and self-centeredness does cover a lot.All stem from that one characteristic. God makes that clear but the institution does not.
Yes it started with Eve who put her self interest first before the interests of God. It carried on al through the Bible including past the time when Jesus said the good news that our self interest would no longer be allowed but the God would soon rule the roost once and for all.Selfishness and self-centeredness does cover a lot.
We are the church.Did God want us to go to church, or did He want us to live a specific way ?
Yes , we the church are not an institution but a movement, a counter-culture to the culture of man.We need to meet together for fellowship, prayer and teaching, and then get out there and live for him.
We do not need to own a building and spend time, and money, worrying about how to maintain and make it look pretty. Nor do we need committees to debate clubs, programmes, finance or how to attract people into our building.
