The Guardian UK openly celebrates its left-wing orientation, and is a big supporter of Labor

It isn't full-blown Communist, but it is considered a left-wing publication
Noted: support of the labor part is "far left" in your book.

There goes my second irony meter, today. It is the right that is offended about trans people. If you guys were not offended we would not be having this discussion.

If you are not offended by trans people, gay people, people in drag, women going to work, kids learning, just what exactly are you bringing to the discussion?

Your Irony Meter? My ATHEIST DETECTOR now has a built-in limiter or I'd be losing one on an hourly basis here.

"If you guys were not offended we would not be having this discussion."

Allow me to edit your reply.

If you guys just bought all the crap we threw your way we would not be having this discussion.

YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT of the word discussion. In the case of the Left, "it's our way or the highway."

Yes. And I can wait.

Tick tock.
Biological sex in humans is determined by:

1. Chromosomes (XX vs. XY, with very rare variation such as XYY, XXX, etc. --but there is NO XYZ)
2. Genitalia
3. Reproductive system
4. Muscular-skeletal differences: women have a differently-shaped, wider pelvis. Men have more bone development at muscle attachment sites, etc.
5. Hormonal differences (testosterone vs. estrogen, etc.)

Even in the instance where a person is born with malformed genitalia, or an extra chromosome, that does NOT make them "non-binary", nor does it constitute a third sex. The determination of sex is based on the aggregate of the criteria above, not simply "does the baby have a penis"?

on a more fundamental level:

"An organism's sex is defined by the type of gamete (sperm or ova) it has the function of producing. Males have the function of producing sperm, or small gametes; females, ova, or large ones. Because there is no third gamete type, there are only two sexes. Sex is binary"

If Caitlin Jenner commits a murder, and the police gather up DNA evidence, it will show that a male committed the crime, despite the fact Bruce Jenner transitioned to female, had surgery, took hormones, etc. And it doesn't matter whose DNA is gathered up --the result is either male or female. There is no "third" option.

Activists like to say that because there can be "intersex variation" that sex is not binary, but this is complete nonsense, and it isn't how we classify things biologically.

Humans are bi-lateral creatures (two arms, two legs). If a baby is born with an extra leg, or missing a limb, we don't go back and correct every biology textbook and paper to say humans are NOT bilateral. That isn't how it works

There is no example of a legitimately third sex anywhere in history among humans (XYZ chromosomes, able to produce offspring on its own, etc.), and sex is therefore binary.

Note: I am talking about biological sex, not "gender" (which is conflated with sex)

a nice essay on this whole topic, and one which debunks some of the nonsense you find on the web, is this one:

Just like you can't stay away from ALL Christian forums. Tell me you wouldn't be happier by just going to atheist forums and leaving Christians alone.

Once again, this thread about libraries and other threads about schools are examples of conservatives using the force of law to enforce their own ideas of political correctness.

Discussion? Certain topics are being banned for discussion in schools.

You should really get that checked out then. To detect us all you need to do is click on the little arrow under our avatars. (Mine is Gen. Sherman, my spirit animal to counter neo-Confederate nonsense.) We just don't believe in your god or any others. Big whoop.

Could you please define "Left" in the context of current American politics (preferably outside the LGBT stuff that animates this thread) and list some current "Left" policies and politicians. (Again, we know about how the LGBT issues fit into your consideration of Left, I'd rather like to know what else you consider to be "Leftist".)

A slight edit.

"political correctness" is not a term I recognize. It's fake. As in fake.

Democrats. That should do it.

By the way, I do not belong to any political party.

Ron DeSantis is a leftist? The GOP county commissioners of Llano County Texas in the OP are leftists?

No, it is the conservatives who are passing laws to remove things from public discussion.

Doesn't matter. Does not matter.
If you don't wish to share forum space with non-christians, there are a lot of sub-forums on this site that only allow christian denominations.

Or maybe you should stop posting for a few hours, grab something to eat and go outside. Watch a sunset or something.

Off topic much?

Leftist Think Tank. "I know. Let's market Transgender and turn gender into a social construct." Sick and twisted...
Gender IS a social contruct. Since the 1800s it was differentiated from "sex".

It gets really tiring arguing with people over something they themselves don't understand but feel so passionate about.

That's why I've stopped arguing with my 8 year old son about the rules of certain board games.

everyone was in agreement that gender was socially-defined (or gender roles at least)

but the left now conflates gender with biological sex --biology is not a "social construct"

Ah ah ah.... The original statement from Nithavela was "Teaching history is also quite controversial in the USA."

Quite clearly it is, as you've shown.
Oh good grief. For some reason I thought when he said teaching history was controversial he actually meant teaching HISTORY was controversial. Was that a mistake? Cause I said the history wasn't controversial and they weren't teaching history. I'm afraid I don't get your point. If they taught history of that wouldn't be controversial. But they are not teaching history. So I am puzzled how you think that not teaching history is somehow the same thing as teaching history.

Remind me again who's upset about boys wearing dresses? Who's yammering at school board meetings? Who's passing laws to muzzle the teaching of unpleasant chapters of US history so that kids won't feel sad? Who's whining about how things today are worse than back when we wore onions on our belt (which was the fashion at the time)?
Well who exactly is yammering at school board meetings? Who is exactly is passing laws to muzzle the teaching of unpleasant chapters in US history? And please provide evidence they are actually muzzling the history. Who's whining about how we are worse today than when we had onions in our belt? And what exactly do you mean by worse in comparison to what they mean by worse?

as if schools were not teaching "unpleasant chapters in American history" before all this nonsense

pretty sure every kid in America learned about slavery, the Civil Rights Movement, and other things like the Holocaust. Do leftists really believe teachers didn't teach this stuff before Critical Pedagogy and CRT came along?

But Democrats were quick to shoot down attempts at teaching the horrors of Communism in Virginia, because such material would "offend Asians"

In May, Gov. Bill Lee signed HB 580, a law aimed at banning so-called critical race theory from schools. Educators argue that critical race theory is not taught or included in the K-12 curriculum and is usually an elective class in college or law school.

Section 51, part 6 of the Tennessee law makes lesson plans illegal if students “feel discomfort, guilt, or anguish.”

[Moms for Liberty's] Steenman doesn’t like a lot of the curriculum at Williamson County Schools. But four books in the second-grade lessons plans are the target of her campaign.

Three of the books, about the civil rights movement, are problematic for the way they’re taught, she says. One is a children’s book about the March on Washington written for young readers.

Two tell the story of Ruby Bridges, a 6-year-old who integrated an elementary school in New Orleans in 1960. “Ruby Bridges Goes To School,” written for elementary school students by Bridges herself, is fine for kids to read, Steenman says. But she says teachers should not be allowed to lead discussions of the pictures in the book – one of which is the famous Norman Rockwell painting of Ruby, the US Marshals who had to protect her from an angry segregationist White crowd, and the ugly slur hurled at her by adults.

Florida bill to shield people from feeling ‘discomfort’ over historic actions by their race, nationality or gender approved by Senate committee

The legislation would prohibit individuals from making people “feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race, color, sex, or national origin.”

The law, which passed, has been declared unconstitutional with respect to employers and universities, on the basis that it restricts free speech. But it still applies to K-12, and obviously it restricts free speech that might cause students 'discomfort'.
