  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He is risen indeed!

I was going to start the thread myself, since us Aussies are among the first to celebrate the resurrection (beaten only by @Ignatius the Kiwi), but we had no reception at the monastery and by the time we got home from breaking the fast with our parish, it was after 5am and I needed to sleep. It is now midday and I've just gotten out of bed.

sorry, I don’t follow. could you clarify this? thanks!

The verses read:

Jesus replied, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.

It is the ramification of the resurrection in the believers life, through it we are children of God and like angels...

It calls to mind Galatians 2:19-21 because we are crucified too, and are raised to live for God..

The point is that it's not just about Jesus, it's symbolic of our own life too.

but what does that have to do with our Paschal greeting?

I am suggesting the importance of focusing on our own participation in the resurrection rather than merely partaking in custom.

It is important to always keep in mind the purpose rather than just enjoying socially.

we do, hence the greeting. and I don’t think anyone on here thinks of merely the custom apart from the participation in the Resurrection.

It is my intention to make sure.

I don't find much value in becoming robotic.
