  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The heart of the Florida Parental rights in Education Act. A.k.a don’t say gay.

Not everyone has (or needs) a “God”,

Uh huh....

getting along without a gender is well-nigh impossible.

Tell that to the "agender" kids....

Apparently that one means without a gender.

I guess we can discard your new religion from classroom like we did your old religion....right? Wasn't that the crux of your argument here?

But you knew that right?

I'll let you in on something I do know....how valid is the concept of gender?

Back before we had transgenderism....we called it transsexualism....because people wanted to change their biological sex. In fact, the sex reassignment surgery were the same then as they are now know. So why swap to transgenderism? Because it's not possible to change one's sex.

So gender became a stand-in for sex and the demands made are basically the same. They still want sex change operations, still want to be treated like the opposite sex....but nope....it's about this feeling that is totally real. Not made up at all.

We both know that there isn’t a thing that I will be able to convince you of that you do not wish to change your mind about so I’ll leave you to it.
Have a nice day.

I don't know how serious one should take the religious leanings of a 2nd grade child.
No more seriously than one should take the gender beliefs of a 2nd grade child.
Tell the kid you find that interesting and now it's time to do some learning.
Excellent idea! Tell a boy who thinks he's a girl that you find that interesting, and now it's time to do some learning.

I know the evidence. I don't know if you do.

I don't wish to have my taxes fund the sexualizing of little children.

I think is sad, that Conservatives are so scared of being honest to kids about Gay people and Transgender. It makes no sense to me. And really does nothing to stop people from being gay or transgender.
It is sad that politics has gotten in the way of education. This should not even be an issue.

I was talkin' about in SCHOOL!
They don't teach religion in school but they are supposed to teach that all people are acceptable and worthy of love. If a confused young one trusts a teacher enough to disclose their alternative sexual preference, the teacher shouldn't be only allowed to say "no comment. Especially when they know they will be rejected by their religious parents.

Why would a young one even go to the teacher with that?

B e c a u s e the child has already heard what their parents have said about “people like that”?
The child needs an adult who they can trust.

And that was my point. Why would they know they could trust their teacher specifically? You already said why. Because the child has already heard.............It goes both ways. If our teachers stuck with teaching academics instead of sex and politically charged subjects the teacher would not be an/the initial source to go to. They would go to another person of trust in their lives, before that. Teachers should not even be the first and foremost in the mind of a young person for that. Get back to the job of teaching academics.

If a child cannot trust their teachers, then the teachers aren’t “good teachers”; it is difficult to learn from someone whom you do not trust enough to tell you the truth.

Your teacher is there to educate you academically. Why are you advocating they teach you and counsel you on sex equally? Your worried about kids cuz you think they need that? Then do like planned parenthood did in the late 60's and 70's. Us girls could go there and get all the counsel we needed for birth control and sexuality we wanted. We did not go to the school teacher. They had their function and purpose which was not even that. Nor should it have been. this very kind of thing has been a source for decades.

How about if a confused young one trusts a teacher enough to disclose their desire to become Christian? Should the teacher be allowed to say more than “no comment” especially when she know he will be rejected by his Islamic parents?

yeah, now give them that job too. Our education system is bad enough at being academic teachers as it is, lets just make them teach everything now. OOPS WAIT THE WOKE DON'T WANT THAT TAUGHT.

That's a good question. I guess it would depend on what feedback the child gets from their parents. I don't think they should encourage that they be one riligion or another but they could listen to the child's concerns and tell them the best way to address their parents with the question.

If they trust them.
There are lots of people to trust. Why single out teachers? That should not be their role and work. They should be teaching our Children academics, as their focus. Other organizations and people paid to do the other like planned parenthood. Parents should be able to trust teachers to do their Job. Why do you want our kids to be politized by schools?

Schools exist to indoctrinate children to live successfully in their communities.
Besides “book-learning” they’re taught (and practice) social skills as they grow and become aware of who they are as a human being.
