Some think technology was advancing too quickly, so God put the brakes on it.

If He's the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and didn't like the Tower of Babel...

That does not bode well for the Internet where information is shared and collaborated on globally
And technology is being used to create increasingly sophisticated AI
There used to be an old Internet commercial - "the Internet, speed limit Infinity!"
Not too much difference between that and "a tower to the heavens"

If I were a weatherman, I would say "expect significant service disruptions in the near future" ;)
We shall see.
There's probably enough time left in my lifetime to see some very interesting things happen.
And many of them could easily start today.

We've come a long way since The Tower of Babel incident that occurred around 4,200 years ago—about 100 years after the Flood but before Abraham was born. Who would have guessed.

Yup.

Had not God put the brakes on it back then, who knows?

The Ammonites or the Moabites could have developed warfare technology that could have decimated the known world.

At the tower of Babel when God confused language.

Really? Human speech evolved at the Tower of Babel? Think about what you are typing. You are effectively claiming that human speech didn't exist until the "Tower of Babel". So that means Adam & Eve couldn't talk, nor Cain & Abel, nor Noah and his sons, nor whomever comes between "the flood" and "the tower".

That is when language got confused and people started to "babble" and not make any sense. By evolve I mean change.

And yet your original "Babel" post was in response to this question:

"When and where did human speech evolve?"

Would you like to revise your answer to the question to something not nonsensical? Let's try again:

When and where did human speech evolve?

4,200 years and they are still trying to rebuild the Tower.

That's the Great Ziggurat of Ur, constructed under the orders of king Ur-Nammu of Babylon around the 21st century BC.

It's definitely not the tower of Babel since there was no tower of Babel.

When and where did human speech evolve?

It started evolving right after the Tower of Babel incident.

In fact, it made its way back to Jacobean English for a brief time; and a specific reason.

Then it moved on.

The tower of Babel story is clearly an allegory meant to explain the existence of different languages among peoples. This sort of story is quite common. I've even heard from some Ethiopian Orthodox Christians that it is the belief among some in their Church in the homeland that the original 'first language' of humanity was Ge'ez, the classical language of the Ethiopian and Eritrean churches. That obviously doesn't correspond to the historical record that we have regarding language, but neither does the tower of Babel story (since the existence of so-called 'Proto-World' is entirely theoretical, for obvious reasons). I would think the Jews of all people would know that, seeing as they themselves spoke a multiplicity of languages since very early on (this is what being in diaspora tends to do to a people), so I would imagine that a literalist reading of this story is probably not traditional to either religion that claims it as part of their Biblical canon.

So now *you* are claiming that the pre-Babel humans didn't have speech?

No, to him, they did.

AV believes that everyone before Babel spoke Jacobean English, all the way from Adam to Noah to Noah's sons to Babel.

I know his odd view of history. I also know his tricks, and this one is to give cover to another fellow with an idiosyncratic form of biblical literalism.

(AV, you don't need to reply to my post. I know you think A&E were created speaking and that evolution doesn't happen. Just stay out of my conversation with other people.)
