Greetings everyone, does anyone know why I have light green leaves falling from the upper righthand corner of my browser as I'm surfing here at CF?

If it's something that's been added as an upgrade, my suggestion is to remove it as it is pretty distracting (motion, of any kind, on a format like this one, always is, IMHO).

Thanks!

God bless you!!

Looks like a raid.

Apart from the green confetti all the avatars are wearing what looks like a traditional Welsh hat.

I'm guessing it's just for Thanksgiving. Same as the Pilgrim's hats on the avatars.
Oh! Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate it!

We can only hope that CF will do something similar to celebrate the national day of all countries represented in CF membership - not just the US.

I expect to see a shower of kangaroos and emus on Australia Day. :D

If you would like to disable all the holiday styling, here is how you can do it:

Click on your name in the upper right hand corner:

Click on the person with the gear on them(red arrow). Then click on Preferences(blue arrow).

Click on the box labeled Disable holiday styling to check the box(red arrow), and then click Save(blue arrow)

This will allow you to turn off all holiday styling for all holidays. You can always reenable it for the next holiday, not all holidays throughout the year are recognized though as a heads up. :)

I like the hats :D The falling leaves are distracting, but I'm good with them too, if it's only meant to last through Thanksgiving

I didn't realize that falling green leaves were associated with Thanksgiving. The leaves in my yard that are falling are definitely not green and have been falling for weeks.

I want to see a turkey drop.

So the addon installed has a list of holidays that the developer has added into the coding. Some of the ones they've listed as having been added(Of course I know CF would not include any non Christian holidays) are the following:

St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo, Hannukah, Chinese New Year, Dia de los Muertos, Oktoberfest, and International Day of Peace.

Holidays can also be added and also disabled, so again I'm sure all non Christian holidays have been removed so they do not appear, so no worries on that. :)

How long has Thanksgiving been a recognised Christian holiday?

That would be a discussion for a new thread, just so we don't derail this thread. Not trying to dismiss what you're saying, but also going to say that as I have no control over what holidays are displayed, I don't find any harm in recognizing Thankgiving on here, especially when it's recognized as a time to express thanks. That being said, if there is ever a concern on what holiday is being displayed, I encourage you to submit a Support Ticket to speak with the Administration. :)

Yes my first thought was 'how very American' I hope Cf realizes that many members here are not American and not even in Fall-which these leaves represent I assume. It's Spring down here in the Southern hemisphere after all.

I agree.

I've lost count of the times I've needed to point out to US posters that America is not the world.

I've just written to the owner with the fairly blunt suggestion that he need s to decide if CF is a US centric site or an international site which just happens to be based in the US.

There is a difference.

While the short-sightedness of some of our American friends is sometimes annoying, it's really nowhere near the top of the list of things with which I might take issue...
Very true, the other changes to the board like this black with white print is a more pressing issue for me, it makes my eyes go funny. I can't even insert a bible verse from an online bible without it trying to form some kind of table.
I do find the pilgrim hats somewhat amusing, particularly on some avatars. Would be nice to see it balanced with other holidays from around the world.
