  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

At the moment, according to exit polls conducted for CNN and other news networks by Edison Research, 49% of independent voters nationwide chose Democratic candidates for the House while 47% opted for Republicans.

That’s a major change from the last FOUR midterm elections. Take a look at the breakdown of the independent vote from those elections:

... when the GOP will ditch losing culture war issues and come up with actual plans to help the country.
In the meantime, what are Democrats doing to help the country? Record high inflation, high crime rates and a wide open southern border (just to nane a few) is not helping.

Calling it a red trickle would be extremely kind.

Yup, the Republicans put a couple of really lousy candidates in a couple races that would have been winnable with a better candidate. Never under estimate the republicans ability to shoot themselves in the foot.

Everyone in his right mind expected a runoff in Georgia. We may not know who controls the senate for another month.
One might have thought that "being in one's right mind" would be a pre-condition to run for US Senate.

Apparently not

I've had enough misery already under the Democrats and don't need another two years of it! Ever since 2020 it's like America has entered the Twilight Zone.

Democrat John Fetterman defeats Dr. Mehmet Oz, flips Pennsylvania Senate seat

Democrat John Fetterman defeats Dr. Mehmet Oz, flips Pennsylvania Senate seat

Unbelievable! Such a disappointing and devastating result in Pennsylvania. If John Fetterman can win a senate seat, then anyone can! Hard to believe the people of Pennsylvania would vote for poverty, despair, and violent crime on themselves. Just like the people of New York, they are gluttons for punishment! Another sign of the continued moral decay and decline of America. :( I am absolutely sick to my stomach!!!!! America has lost it's way and just like Rome it will eventually fall and fall hard!

Well what did you expect it is PA. Had the Republicans had a better candidate it may not have happened.

It appears at this time the America isn't bad enough yet. It will have to get worse before it gets better. America wants to give them more of a chance. I guess we'll wait 2 more years.

Yes. The predictions of a Republican "Red Wave" were simply wrong. Given the current economic conditions, the Republicans should have knocked it out of the park. As I write this, every one of the election-denying candidates are losing in Arizona (Senate, Governor, AG and Sec of State). If this holds, it will be a victory for our Democratic Republic and a resounding defeat of Trump and his election denying candidates. My confidence in the American voter is somewhat restored.

This may spell the death nell for Trump. I certainly would applaud that.

So everything gets blamed on Trump? Doesn't matter if America crashes and burns as long as Trump / GOP candidates don't win? I really thought that people in America were smarter than this, but apparently I was mistaken.

You were mistaken. America has shown itself sick to death of Trump and all the problems. I certainly hope this spells the end of him and we can move forward in 2024 with a good candidate. America hasn't had enough of Biden yet after two years. Perhaps they will have had enough after four. They showed they have had enough of Trump and his candidates.

I don't think it's because many didn't agree in concept with many things he said or concerns he raised. I think it's just that there comes a point where water has gone over the bridge and it's not worth all the drama to bring it back. He had a charisma which was electrifying and influential whether one liked him or not. but time has come for a new leader.

I think history will speak more kind of him or find him more interesting than the current generation. He was an anomaly something strange and unique that happened in Amercian politics. He wasn't perfect by no means, but I think a lot of hyperbole criticism would be looked upon for what they were. Generations future might see the need for the next Donald Trump.

Interesting.

I posted the source that I'm using, early on in this thread.

U.S. election 2022: Live results and maps

Question: According to your source, how to the Democrats lose 3 seats, but the Republicans only gain 3?

"There's 1 for you, two for me, one for you, two for me..."

...it's going to be a while before AZ is decided....given how close the races are. Bill Gates from Maricopa county just stated on on CNN that they have over 400k thousand votes still to count....with 275k of those being early ballots dropped off on Election Day. All of those have to be signature verified....he estimated they will be done by Friday.

...and it's likely GA will require a run-off election for the Senate race...repeat of 2020....

The alternative is no better and has proven to be worse. Hating Trump has blinded people from making rational decisions when they vote and America is paying a heavy price for electing this current administration! Sadly, I only expect things to keep getting worse under the Biden administration.

I suspect that Biden will be a lame duck very soon. That won't help us to solve our problems; but at least it will inhibit him from doing more damage. I pray that he doesn't drag us into a nuclear war to preserve his legacy.
