I think that Trump really, really wants to testify and have the stage, in prime time, before the country and the world.

Congress is giving him his chance to incriminate himself. NOTHING that Trump says can help him in his court cases, as his lawyers will tell him. Trump can only hurt himself in court. However, Trump certainly believes that this is a perfect way to begin his campaign for votes, even though votes don't matter (as he said in 2016 and 2020).

Remember that this was not primarily a television show. There is now a public record of a historic event. It will be returned to for many years, unlike your average news bulletin, seen for a moment and overtaken by other pressing stories.

And around the world, another significant audience. Actually 'audience' is the wrong word. The people watching were witnesses.

There has been so much hot air about conspiracies to deceive the American public - to subvert the electoral system, to cheat.

Now, at last there seems to be something in it after all - an attempt to cover up a conspiracy between extreme right wing groups and the President to overthrow the country's Constitution.

That committee does not deserve the respect of any response whatsoever, it is a total sham.

yes it looks very bad when only one side of the story has been promoted, which is why it is necessary to get both sides of the story and question the witnesses before accepting a Hollywood production of a sham committee. Otherwise we get untrue stories base on hearsay of things that according to the Secret Service never even happened.

Just remember that next year, assuming Republicans regain control in the House. When there are endless investigations into Pres. Biden remember they are all just for show and that Americans don't care about them (other than you). Much like the seven different hearings into Benghazi.

I doubt that the Republican will feel compelled to control who is on the committee nor will they hire a Hollywood producer to play up a one sided sham to look like a real investigation.
