  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Those Who Transgress the Torah, Dishonor YHWH.

who are boasting in a law, through the transgression of the law you are dishonoring God!

Even worse, because of this YHWH is blasphemed.

For because of you the name of God is being blasphemed among the nations, according as it is written.

who are boasting in a law,
Who is it that is boasting in the Law?

CLV Romans 2:21 You, then, who are teaching another, you are not teaching yourself! who are heralding not to be stealing, you are stealing!"

He has not commanded us to teach, thou shalt not steal. He has commanded us to teach faith of Jesus Christ, who by His Spirit is able to keep you from stealing!

Romans 2: 28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

It is not just the physical obedience but the spiritual that matters.

or to put it another way, we are not saved by works, by by faith.

(CLV) Dt 11:18
Hence you will place these my words in your heart and in your soul, and you will tie them as a sign on your hand, and let them come to be as brow-bands between your eyes.

(CLV) Dt 11:19
You will teach them to your sons, speaking- of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise.

(CLV) Mt 28:19
Going, then, disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit,

(CLV) Mt 28:20
teaching them to be keeping all, whatever I direct you. And lo! I am with you all the days till the conclusion of the eon! Amen!"

Here is what Yahshua taught:

(CLV) Mt 5:18
For verily, I am saying to you, Till heaven and earth should be passing by, one iota or one serif may by no means be passing by from the law till all should be occurring.

(CLV) Mt 5:19
"Whosoever, then, should be annulling one of the least of these precepts, and should be teaching men thus, the least in the kingdom of the heavens shall he be called. Yet whoever should be doing and teaching them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

(CLV) Mt 5:20
For I am saying to you that, if ever your righteousness (keeping the law) should not be superabounding more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, by no means may you be entering into the kingdom of the heavens.

Works demonstrates that one has faith, they do not save one.

The insistence that only the saturday sabeth is correct is a work that denies the need for faith, as well as denieing Jesus's teaching that the sabeth was made for mans benefit.

Context is very important. Circumcision of the heart!
Roman's 2:17-29
The Jews Guilty as the Gentiles
17 Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God, 18 and know His will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, 19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law. 21 You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? 24 For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.

Circumcision of No Avail
25 For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, judge you who, even with your written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law? 28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

Yahshua didn't teach what you purport.

Here is what YHWH says:

(CLV) Ex 31:13
Now you, speak to the sons of Israel saying-, Surely, My sabbaths shall you keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations to know that I am Yahweh, Who is hallowing you.

saying that only a literal obedience to the written words in the Torah is not spititual, but legalism.

I gave you scripture, not an opinion.

Here is what Yahshua taught:

(CLV) Mt 5:18
For verily, I am saying to you, Till heaven and earth should be passing by, one iota or one serif may by no means be passing by from the law till all should be occurring.

(CLV) Mt 5:19

For I am saying to you that, if ever your righteousness (keeping the law) should not be superabounding more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, by no means may you be entering into the kingdom of the heavens.

Should I trust your opinion; or Yahshua's teaching?

Did not the author himself boast in the law?

Are you advocating a strict, literal observance of Torah, Hark my man?

Only down to the iota and serif.

Paul is not saying that circumcision is of no avail. He's saying that it is of no avail if one is practicing lawlessness. The same can be said for baptism in Yahshua's name.

Here is what Yahshua says on that subject.

(CLV) Mt 7:21
"Not everyone saying to Me `Lord! Lord!' will be entering into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the will of My Father Who is in the heavens.
(CLV) Mt 7:22
Many will be declaring to Me in that day, `Lord! Lord! Was it not in Your name that we prophesy, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many powerful deeds?'

(CLV) Mt 7:23
And then shall I be avowing to them that `I never knew you! Depart from Me, workers of lawlessness!'

Romans 2: 28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. It is not just the physical obedience but the spiritual that matters.

Romans 2 :29

he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from people, but from God.

In Roman 2:25-29, the way to recognize that a Gentile has a circumcised heart is by observing their obedience to the Torah, which is the same way to tell for a Jew (Deuteronomy 10:12-16, 30:1-8), and circumcision of the heart is a matter of the Spirit, which is in contrast with Acts 7:51-53, where those who have uncircumcised hearts resist the Spirit are do not obey the Torah. In Ezekiel 36:26-27, God will take away our hearts of stone, give us hearts of flesh, and send His Spirit to lead us to obey the Torah, so again it is describing God circumcising our hearts by means of the Spirit, and there same goes for Jeremiah 31:33, and Colossians 2:11-13, and Acts 15:7-9. Having a circumcised heart does not refer to something other than living in physical obedience to God's law, and in Matthew 23:23, Jesus said that faith is one of the weightier matters of the law, so this is the way to have faith.
