  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Will you let the bible ...

Imagined? You mean like the fact that it can’t be backed up with scripture?
I mean it is scriptural but when discussing these things with a 66-book-bible person it isn't profitable to spend too much time on it.

It’s not scriptural because it’s not found in scripture, along with many other RCC beliefs.

:)
The smile does not imply agreement with your views.
It shows you are happy with my post. Looks like agreement, especially when there is no other response.

My religion, my faith is more wedded to being kind and showing compassion than it is to law and gospel, to justice and rightness. So I ask of my self "will you let the bible teach you to punish and to judge the 'world' casting some away?" which translates to will I let the bible teach me to be unkind and hard - to treat anyone badly because justice demands it or their faults deserve it?

1 Corinthians 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

If we follow Jesus Christ we would be showing kindness and compassion without limiting it, there would be no greater way than that. We are forgiven much, there is basis to be forgiving to any others. With being a Christian who is vegan, not choosing to limit kindness and compassion to other creatures, it is certain there is no greater way than that. And there is no purgatory necessary, only God through Christ cleanses a real believer following him from all unrighteousness and it does not need further time after the death of the body.

Jesus is said to be more compassionate than we are, so of course he will be so to animals. Early Christians gave up eating things from animals, they had his example, as they said. It is not the gospel by which there is salvation. Growth toward godliness is still meant for us in Christ.

Jesus was not a vegetarian nor a vegan, he ate fish after the resurrection, and he ate lamb and fish and whatever was common food among the people of Judea.

I seriously doubt that it even crossed Jesus' mind that killing animals for food was any sort of a moral issue.

We are to be led by The Holy Spirit, not our bibles. The Holy Spirit utilizes the bible as a tool for our growth and understanding, nothing more.

How do you know you are to be led by the Holy Spirit?

How do you know you are to be led by the Holy Spirit?

Rom 8:13 for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

If you don't know, then you're not.

So you use the Bible to tell you that you are to be led by the Spirit.

Again, if you don't know, then you're not.

There are examples in scripture of how The Holy Spirit is to personally teach us, how we are to be led away from sin into holiness by Him, etc. If you are not having some of these things happening on a daily basis in your life, then you're not led by Him.

It's not an argument.
