I suspect "they" (FBI) have a very good reason for going after him that has nothing to do with whether Trump runs again. We'll learn soon enough....at which point, all the talking heads casting shade on the FBI will have moved on to another target...

It's a bit much....

I can't recall any former President being raided by the FBI. I don't imagine that none of them ever failed to follow every procedure to the letter.

Merrick Garland has already shown a willingness to use the FBI against political opponents in school board meetings. I don't like the idea of an FBI being used for political ends.

But yeah....we'll see.

I'm quite certain no prior President has hauled off dozens of WH documents to his estate, which as of this afternoon, we know know contained Top Secret - SCI documents.

So I decided to give you the benefit of doubt and take a peek at one... and you are the one who ought to apologize.

Theres nothing in the authors opinion piece indicating "any means necessary" is an actual Dem motto. Instead the phrase is his characterization of D attitudes.

Oh please....is the word motto important here?

If the term generalized strategy was used....or maybe popular sentiment instead of motto....you would have agreed?

I specifically worded my post as my perception, not an accusation. However given your response was to continue to offer opinion rather then correct your mistatment, and then add a snarky "Your forgiven" at the end it would appear that I have my answer.

The warrant gives the Espianoge Act as a law Trump is being investigated for violating.
That's about as serious a charge as I can imagine.
The Trump appointed justice who granted the warrant to the Trump appointed FBI Director had ample reason for taking action.

I don't have to give it much thought to find an example.

Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton emails - what's it all about?

Granted, she was never president, but that makes her violations all the more egregious.

You may imagine there's some substantial difference between taking home a hard copy on paper and keeping all copies on a personal server....but there isn't. Not in regards to policy, not in regards to criminality.

Now....I'm sure the reason her staffers smashed her servers with hammers is so they could be bagged up more easily when the FBI arrived.

You seriously don't think executive officials have been known to get a little careless with classified information? Wasn't there some goofball who got seduced by a Chinese spy not too long ago?

It's astonishing what you'll believe.

If they've caught him sharing state secrets out of office he's in big trouble.

Funny how the mole supposedly knew exactly where the documents were kept, yet the FBI raided every bit of living space even going though all of Melania's possessions. It's obvious they were out to get anything they could lay their hands on, rather than being there to retrieve specific boxes kept in a specific spot.
The FBI wants to confiscate the recording of the raid from Trump. Trump needs to get that out into the public before they can seize it, let the public see any violations of the warrant by the FBI. Impeachment papers against Garland have been filed.

The same goes for you, for Joe Biden, for all of us. The thing is that Trump declassified the documents, they can't prove he did not--he had full authority to declassify all records. Hillary did not and there is no question she possessed classified material. She said she didn't know it was classified and that was good enough for the Justice Department.

Sure they can prove it. There's a declassification process. It's recorded. Trump can't just declare them declassified.

(Not to mention the fact that the classification markings were still on the documents...)

Actually, it is what they do, which is more indicative of their strategy than what they merely say. So I will give you they do not admit to it in words. But actions speak louder than words.
Trump’s actions are speaking far louder than his words…..

Actually he can. The president is the final authority for declassification. While Trump did not issue any declassification executive orders or directives he did not rescind any, so the EOs from Bush and Obama are still in force. Those exempt the president and vice-president from declassification procedures that others have to follow.

Just heard that the warrant said Trump was under investigation for possible obstruction of Justice and espionage! The statute cited was 17893, which covers the Espionage Act. That's the warrant saying that--not me.
They wanted the warrant released so let the wild excuses begin!

They have to first invent a reason and then actually charge Trump. I don't know if they can come up with one that will not bring more criticism against the Biden adminstration.
