Would you bury your loved one in your own backyard?

Or in a local golf course?
Will Ivana help Donald Trump with tax breaks from beyond the grave?

Serious questions, by the way. Would you?

No. For one thing even if it was legal, I doubt the next owners would want a grave on their property. So it would likely have to be exhumed and relocated.

Although there is a private property I know of that contains a small old cemetery. And the cemetery is supposed to be haunted. So the owners of the property have to deal with trespassers.

This isn't unusual IMO.... that is burying family on your own owned land or private cemeteries as many families have done this for generations as it allows easy access to family grave sites vs buying plots in a cemetery and trying to get plots together as family lines grow and corporate owned cemeteries start to fill up finding plots next to each other becomes more and more impossible so visiting relatives becomes a golf cart tour using a map and a guide. Some people fall in love with a piece of land and want to be buried there when they die. I'm currently not worried what happens to me, toss me in a plywood box and stick me in the ground anywhere or cremate me whatever is cheapest and most convenient.

If it was legal, and I had an appropriately large and solemn area of my backyard, yes. Similar to what @Sophrosyne described, some of my ancestors in colonial New England and some of my husband's ancestors in rural-frontier Kentucky have ____ family cemeteries, where members of the ____ family were buried in a fenced-off corner of the ____ family's land.

Yes, I would.
Days are coming when there will be so many bodies needing burial, graveyards will be full, and unless you don't care about your loved ones being buried in mass graves (or not buried at all), you will be glad to be able to bury them in your back yard.
In the span of several months, over half the population of the planet will be killed.
Yeah, back yard will be great.

Counting by percent. If there were 100 people, this would reduce it to 75:

Revelation 6:8
8. And I saw, and behold, a pale green horse, and the name of the one sitting on it was Death; and Hades followed after him. And authority was given to them to kill over the fourth of the earth with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Of the 75 that are left, this would reduce it to 50. Hence, 50% of the population killed.

That is a lot of graves.

Rev_9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

That is a lot of graves and a lot of burial.
Usually in cases of mass death, the dead are simply piled up and burned or long trenches are dug for mass graves.

My wife's ancestors have a family graveyard. We can go see her GGgrandparents and GGGgrandpartent's graves. These are currently located behind someone's double wide trailer. Pretty amazing.

It just seems cool to walk across the lawn to visit the old folks. It is up to you to keep the graves neat and tidy. We tried to do that. I see nothing wrong with it!

It is not easy to visit my mom's grave site. about 1.5 hour drive one way and then have to arrange to open the locked gate and drive over a mile on rocky roads. Had mom been buried close by I may have visited at least on her birthday, but I believe people that are dead do not sit around and watch us here in this life at all nor can hear us.
