  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A question- I have had a problem with not having joy, I had joy for about 5 minutes after I got saved and then it left and I have never had it since. I figure there is a good reason why I don't have it, I have asked God about this many times and I thought that He told me that it was because of what I had been through in life before I got saved, I couldn't help it, I needed to be healed first. Does this make sense to You? I am not positive this was God. Could someone's past life prevent them from having joy? If not I just need to repent, however I have already tried everything I can think of and I can't seem to have joy. Thanks!

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."

Do word search in the Bible for JOY. You might be surprised by joy.

My joy is found in the secure knowledge that God is accomplishing exactly everything he set out to do for his own sake, for his glory, and for HIS enjoyment, and is even now full of joy. And he even lets me watch him accomplishing it! "The joy of the Lord is my strength."

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

don't let the evil one steal your joy ... just keep on deepening your relationship with the Lord .... be content

Happiness is generally defined as the experience of frequent positive thoughts, such as joy, interest or pride.

Contentment is generally defined as a longer lasting, but a deeper feeling of satisfaction and gratitude.

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. AMEN

I just started reading this and the song playing? "Joy in the morning" HAHA praise GOD GLORY TO JESUS. I love it so much thank you Father when He does this! HAHA wow..

Dave.... we walk by faith not sight or feeling. Its written Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. So think about what He has done for you.. start to think on dwell on Him.. start to sing praises to Him when you feel like nothing. That JOY? Yeah its not you its HIM! It will ALWAYS come. Believe no matter what you see hear feel. Keep your eyes on Him.. His JOY will be your strength. Think.. We have the peace of God..we have Christ peace not that world gives. We put on the whole armor of God. We are strong in the power of HIS might. I can go and on but you see its NOT us. Its always ALL HIM! So let go.. relax.

He said.. cast all your cares on Him. About 4 days ago in the car I was thinking about some cares problems we have and told my wife lets just put our hands together and gave them all toss them up to Him. Just as we did that.. the song played said "from my hands into yours" THAT was again PRAISE GOD GLORY TO JESUS

I remember hearing recently that the biblical definition of joy is the resolute assurance that God has not lost interest in you or your struggles. Something to that degree. Personally, when i read the bible. God will from time to time give me specific verses, and say "Hey!! Brandon!! Look at that, thats for you!" Keep reading brother !!

This world is not an easy place to have true pure joy in. Between our own pride that listens to the wrong voice, other people are also listening to it-and we all end up in competition for the title of "Who's Most Right". And that title only rightfully belongs to God to begin with. So people sling mud at each other and probably none of us look UP to the extent we should. But the more that we put God and His opinion first, the less our egos are involved in the day to day drama. Joy will never be perfect in this life but we can get better at it. We can even ask for it! If we're ready, if we really want it.

Obviously you can try to remain as positive-minded as possible to avoid stifling what little joy has been given to you. The problem is that not much joy has been given to any of us because the church is not currently in revival:

"Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?" (Psalm 85).

An individual or a community can only have as much joy as they have revival.

Most Christians don't realize this because they suppose that sanctification and revival are two different things. Thus they tend to regard revival as an "optional bonus" - a nice blessing but not strictly necessary.

The truth is that revival and sanctification are indeed the same thing - massive outpourings of the Spirit. This is actually the main point of Gal 3:1-6.

You can definitely acquire small outpourings by waiting upon the Lord in prayer and praise - your own personal revivals. This will increase your joy slightly. But if only a small number of Christians are doing this, the church might never see a massive outpouring, and thus there won't be much increase in joy for any of us. The church at large needs to avidly seek revival. That's not likely to happen because most think it's just an optional bonus.
