What amount of evidence is there of a YEC?

Oh, I'm not referring to Jerry Falwell. He's old news. I'm talking about the allegations that hit the SBC just this past week (past year, really).
Don't know ... don't care ... don't care to know. :(

Yes indeed.

It's an infrastructure.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

And we both know who's at the top, don't we?

Of course.

Well, I care about 'mistakes' made on both sides of the State/Church divide. But, I don't expect all other of my fellow Christians to imitate me in this.

Uh, so where were we? Oh yeah, deliberating over evidence for a worldwide flood. **ahem**

I get it--I don't think AV has any higher opinion of the SBC than I do. ;)

The only evidence I think God left behind on purpose (meandering rivers and white cliffs) is beyond academic levels of comprehension.

As for the rest of the evidence, God cleaned it up -- right off the planet.

Steno didn't seem to agree. But you know, what's a small difference among us Christian friends? :dontcare:

???

My opinion was about Mr. Falwell, not the SBC.

He went from being an Independent Baptist, to being a Southern Baptist.

The fossil record made me reconsider.

The same fossil record that we've all reconsidered, time and time again?

Frankly, for me, it's fine if you want to lean the direction you do. Just try to refrain from assuming the rest of us haven't studied.

Moreover, I've read the various sides of the issue(s), and where faith in Christ is concerned, I don't think that either Flood geology or Creationism, nor adherence to ToE is a hill to die on. We have bigger fish to fry.

Yes, well. I was referring to the developing news about the SBC. And I'm sure one can find some heretics in regard to the book of Genesis and Flood geology somewhere among their ranks.

Ok great we are making progress

I'm not sure we are. You keep asking questions and making demands, rather than engaging meaningfully with the answers and information being provided to you.

Ok - So you cannot date rocks of known ages using radiometric dating. That was all you had to say.

What is a "rock of known age"?

The only rocks I can think of that have a known date of formation of the sort your arguments seem to imply would be lava flows with associated historical accounts. It would be really helpful for the discussion if we knew what you were specifically asking for.

Yeah well it made me be open to more than one possibility but it's kind of funny how all the theories change when a jawbone or a tooth is found.

We already know that the only ages @Platte accepts are those recorded in written accounts. My guess is that his gotcha will be taking Genesis as a written account and asking "the Flood was only 4,000 years ago, so how can you date the grand canyon to 70 million years?"

That's how science works. Scientists don't do absolute truth.
