Here's a better analogy I think. Borrowing from the movie The Sixth Day. What if an adult clone was made of a 35 year old man? He would be 1 day old at the time of its creation. However if this person was examined by medical experts they would determine his age being around 35 years. So the question regarding earth age is, what if God created a fully developed earth 6,000 years ago? Like the clone, all tests and examinations would show it being much older.

But, again, what about all the history that we see when we study the earth? The fossil record of animals and plants long gone extinct? The historical civilizations we've dated to be older than 6,000 years?

Why go through all of that, and for what?

The 1 day old clone would have a similar history of all the changes that take place from conception to 35 years of age. Now I'm not really a proponent of this line of thought. But I do think in theory a created earth could be billions of years old, but actually created much earlier than that. Harking back to Sci Fi, that was basically the premise of the Genesis planet in the 2nd Star Trek movie.

So where does the idea that the earth is 6k years old come from? The genealogy given in Genesis? That could have been abrivated like other genealogies that are listed? If so, what if there's an extra unrecorded 20 father to sons between Adam and Noah, each having 900 year life spans?

What it shows is either a deceptive nature from someone who appears to not distinguish such deceptions, or someone who seems to think its ok to deceive others.
Ie: the same as the deception involved in the idea of Earth not being as old as it really is.

I would summarize that as someone being dreadfully boring, but sure if someone practices their deviousness for 3,8 million posts in these forums than clearly it is better for the society that such a person is voluntarily confined here than out there somewhere talking to unsuspecting people.
