God can do whatever he wants. That's why they call him God.

Then they're calling him "God" for all the wrong reasons.

Any belief system in which "God" is nothing more than the epitome of "might makes right" is to be rejected for so many reasons that correlating with prejudice and racism doesn't even make the top ten.

But from reading the Bible I have a pretty good idea of what he is going to do in the future.

You have other people's ideas, you mean.

But I don't think I have a monopoly on the truth. There are many other points of view that have their own merit

Never claimed otherwise -- but I don't need a monopoly on truth to recognize abominable morality when I see it -- and "might makes right" is a prime example.[/quote]

Yet God had commanded it. But, no. That cannot be. It is said that God can do anything that is logically possible. So He cannot approve and disapprove of the same act. That is logically impossible. And God cannot change His mind. He cannot think 'This was a bad idea, let's correct it'.

Either what was written about God in the OT is incorrect. Or what was written about Jesus in the NT is incorrect. There are no other options.

Between you and me, I'm going for the former. We both know that what Jesus taught was a guide to a moral life. So 'he who is without sin...'. Not a command, but a request that we examine ourselves and make a personal decision as to the morality of any act. As opposed to a command which we all know is immoral.

Dang! You're smart! I guess I'm going to have to clear my shelves of every book I've painstakingly gathered and learned from over the past 30 years. You've arrived and 'viola!,' all is solved! The rest of us no longer have to dawdle in the dark, wishing we could break out into the light at the end of the tunnel.

Where have you been all this time, Bradskii?!! Without you, I'd never know what 'true good' is ...

Yes. That's why we no longer sacrifice animals and such

We also don't sacrifice animals because Deuteronomy 12:5-6 specifically says that animal sacrifices can only be performed at the Temple...and lest we forget, the Romans stomped the Temple flat in AD 70.

And might this be why we don't see anyone on this forum subscribing to the thought of Alexander Dugin?

You kind of need to stop, for all of the reasons I've mentioned this past week. Your diatribe is getting rather tiresome.

If.only it were that simple.
There are many people on this forum who believe in evolution who are Christians. There are many diverse views and if you want to be agnostic or atheist that is your right and I would not try to interfere with it. Even God does not force himself on people you are free to accept him or reject him. We just believe there will be consequences

That is why Jews do not sacrifice. Christians don't because one sacrifice has been made for all who accept him

There are many people on this forum who believe in evolution who are Christians.

And many Christians who are quick to reject the ones who accept evolution... unfortunately, it's this latter group that is seeking (and gaining) political power -- how long before their word is law?

There are many diverse views and if you want to be agnostic or atheist that is your right and I would not try to interfere with it.

See above.

Even God does not force himself on people you are free to accept him or reject him. We just believe there will be consequences

It's the ones who believe in inflicting consequences that are the problem -- and you would interfere with them even less than you would interfere with me.

In what way are you being persecuted? The left has control of our education system and higher learning and controls both the house and the Senate as well as the White House Twitter Facebook Instagram Google the media is it them that are persecuting you?

In what way are you being persecuted?

Books are banned, topics are forbidden, teachers face civil and legal consequences for so much as mentioning certain topics.

I'm a teacher myself, and I'm fortunate to live in an area where such nonsense hasn't yet arrived -- should I be content to count my blessings, or should I remember the words of Martin Luther King that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere?

Should I be content that its only happening over there (for now), or shall I look the censors and bookbanners in the eye and quote Job 38:11?

The left has control of our education system and higher learning

Do they? Who's been censoring books as of late? Who's been making it illegal for teachers to teach, discuss, or even mention certain topics in the classroom?

You're going to need a new scapegoat.

and controls both the house and the Senate as well as the White House

Never for long -- and the right has tipped their hand that their agenda is one of vengeance and retribution for (real or imagined) injuries -- one need look no further than the likes of Donald or Ron DeSantis to see the future...

Twitter Facebook Instagram Google the media is it them that are persecuting you?

Actually, those institutions are controlled by the free market... usually a sacred cow of the right, but when "Big Tech" (which the right helped create, not that they want you to remember that) doesn't fall at their feet, it becomes another hated enemy... To be brought to heel

...and the Christians will cheer -- because they agree, because they want their cut, or because they're afraid if they don't, they're next, who can say?

And does it matter?

Persecution isn't in it, not yet anyway. It's gaining political power which is the key phrase here. You are playing into it by blaming everything you don't like about society on "the left."

Yet you fear conservatives may gain political power. You do the same thing you accuse me of

I don't fear the conservatives gaining political power--I'm a straight, white male and although I am not an OK kind of Christian it will be a long time before anybody kicks in my front door over that. I'm not fearful, I am disappointed at the prospect of Christians working avidly to extinguish American values.

I see what they mean by confirmation bias. Vengeance? Who was hell bent on impeachment? Who has people still locked up for trespassing while people who burned down cities in "mostly peaceful " protests go unpunished? And because people think parents should have a say in what is taught to pre-school children that is book burning and censorship? I think I'm done here

If you can't come any closer to the truth of what is actually happeing than that, it's a good idea. Go in peace.
