  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So how is that BLM thing going?

I don't think you know what you're promoting. It sure doesn't make much sense on my end...

I am not surprised. To break it down for you, promoting an idea that someone is a victim and convincing them when they are not is called "promoting a victim mentality". Telling them they are not a victim is not.

Again I say for a third time. The actions are not justifiable but were completely avoidable
Of course it could have been avoided if Floyd hadn't used counterfeit money been high on drugs and acted like an idiot. And it could have been avoided if they had just put him in the car once he was handcuffed. As a police officer you have to deal with idiots and use force but you also have to use common sense. Chauvin or whatever his name is knew what he was doing and even worse he knew he was being filmed while he did it. I consider him more of an idiot than Floyd

That's 14% to 28%. Which is obviously double the rate for white families. Which is obviously a problem. So what do you think is a solution to that? Education? Employment? Housing? A combo of all three?
The problem is multifaceted. But if you want immediate results, stop incentivising single parenthood with entitlements. Meaning, undo the LBJ era policies.

You are like the white woman in The Color Purple who thought she was helping. You should watch the movie

I'll give that all of the attention it merits. OK, done.

There is no simple solution. You think you can just throw money at this problem and make it go away? We are losing our culture. We already subsidize housing. Employment? We pay people not to work? Education? We are teaching gender identity and critical race theory and our kids can't read. Which do you want to spend more money on?

Promoting an idea that a person brought on a Floyd-like tragedy because they "did it to themselves" promotes...what, exactly?

You're just as bad as the people who are outright racists. At least they're honest about what they believe, but you cloak it in bad-faith about "victim mentality" and (just guessing here) rants about pulling up pants. "A cow pie, by any other name, would not smell so sweet".

More employment would help. Helping out those who are out of work is good. Better education for all is a given. Literacy must be improved. All of those take money. It's more a case of priorities. Invest now for a better future. Any ideas where we should spend it first? Can you prioritise it?

You've clearly exhausted all attempts at justifying your position now that you're projecting your views onto those you disagree with, and resorting to the ever-losing tactic of calling people racists for not agreeing with you.

How do you get a mother and a father to be responsible for these young people to set an example for them to help them with their school work to teach them how to work and be productive citizens? Many people do and I know many who do but there are so many who have no father figure no interest in how they do in school and a parent who only cares about the check they get for them every month. How do you help those kids? I was in law enforcement for 16 years and was a youth pastor for 10 so I have seen it first hand. It has to start with the children. Help them. See that they actually learn something in school. Teach them to value work and give them an alternative to gangs and crime. Show them that someone cares about them and believes in them. It has to start with the children
