  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evidence of miracles.

Yawn. Last I checked, the sun shines over the entire planet... Why only a small number of people allegedly saw... something ... Isn't terribly impressive.

There is so much wrong with your assumptions , physics and metaphysics it’s hard to know where to start.

You do not experience the sun directly. It is a projection through your senses. So the fact that some can experience it objectively differently does not demand all in the world experience the same.

It is sufficient that the experience was enough to make all the newspapers as a unique phenomenon witnessed by all that neither repeated before or after , that makes it extraordinary.

It was also physical not just experiential because of the ground drying when the sun was perceived to approach the earth.

That the extraordinary , in this case unique, happened at the prophesied time place and date , breaks the physics model as we know it.

But what is physics anyway? Just a codification of what is normally observed. Nothing precludes it behaving differently. It did at Fatima.

OK then. I thought I remembered you writing something like that. Perhaps it was someone else.
No you didn’t

I am a post grad math modeller and physicist. Done all sorts from hush hush Military to ESA projects before there was an EU to mess it up, including running a large team of astrophysicists.

Which is why I commented on another thread how the enthusiasm at NASA is real. Why wouldn’t it be? When you get well paid to indulge a hobby. Trouble is the things that make them interested , also make it a nightmare to focus on getting stuff done, which is perspiration not inspiration and often not fun at all. It also has consolations. Going to some of the worlds highest volcanoes is one of them.

As an aside, on a work trip, I have stood at the mirador 400m from where the new la palma volcano is. Mauai is much nicer. Except it has sharks.

Being a math modeller is why I occasionally write insightful things on math modelling, and how Dawkins should S T F U about climbing mount improbable. Like most things he knows nothing about it.

OK, that's what it was. Perhaps my confusion is that the term "post grad" has no particular meaning to me.

It means they made it through high school or college with a passing grade.

Actually, only half of the planet at a time. It's that whole thing about the Earth being spherical.

Don't get me started on that anti-flat narrative, you sheep! ;)

So don't.

You do not experience the sun directly. It is a projection through your senses. So the fact that some can experience it objectively differently does not demand all in the world experience the same.

The word you're avoiding is "subjectively."

It is sufficient that the experience was enough to make all the newspapers as a unique phenomenon witnessed by all that neither repeated before or after , that makes it extraordinary.

And yet, my miracle is still better.

It was also physical not just experiential because of the ground drying when the sun was perceived to approach the earth.

Right-- I forgot you believed that.

That the extraordinary , in this case unique, happened at the prophesied time place and date , breaks the physics model as we know it.

It would have, had it actually happened... unlike my miracle, which was quite real.

But what is physics anyway? Just a codification of what is normally observed. Nothing precludes it behaving differently. It did at Fatima.

Were you there? :)

Every where else but here it means “ has multiple degrees”
Aka postgraduate.
I have had some classes in an Information and Library Studies degree.
What I did learn there was how to look stuff up.

No definitions found refer to "multiple degrees," unless you want to include both high school and college degrees. But, here...I'll check again:

Nope.

I couldn't find one webpage that put "multiple degrees" and "Postgraduate" on the same page as a definition.

Check my search methods here

So "Nowhere, even here in a chat room" is correct.

Normally postgraduate is interpretted to mean one who has started a graduate degree after completing their bachelors. At least that is the most common definition.

Sounds like you actually achieved a masters or doctorate?

Nope -- that's just your own definition... which may lead one to wonder what other definitions you're making up as you go.

A post graduate is someone who has gone through schooling at the USPS Academy.

.. and where the person in question demonstrates a significant lack of depth of knowledge in the field, formally qualified or not, they are justifiably ignorable.

Degrees and postgraduate qualifications mean nothing when that significant lack of knowledge is repeatedly on display to all, post after post (and I'm not by any stretch of the imagination, referring to @Hans Blaster's posts here).

You mean your spin on reality?
I don’t think there are degrees in that.

Rest assured mine are real. In maths / physics.

Post graduate means…
“relating to or denoting a course of study undertaken after completing a first degree.”
Precisely as I used it.

All sorts . A fair amount military hush hush.
Optimal / adaptive Control, so underlying processes. Estimation. Detection. Signatures. Noise processes in electronics. Unusual semiconductors.
