Watching In the Heat of the Night right now with my Saturday evening Discord companions from RPGMMag. We're making fun of the fact that the Mississippi cops in the late 60's apprehended literally the first black man they saw after discovering a corpse in an alley at the beginning of the movie ... and he turned out to be a highly respected police officer himself from out of town.

Man, at first I had no idea this movie was about racism in a 60's Mississippi town.


(It's always Mississippi in these kinds of movies, though.)

Tough decision today. Apologist/ southern gentleman that I went on a date with back in September of 2020 and I stopped communication with last the fall.. he text me today to check on me. I will have to stand firm in my decision with the last phone call and wishing him well. If I text him back I think it hinders both of us in finding someone to marry.

There's been an internal battle of the whole situation for some time as I miss his voice and his input, but it's too comfortable of a place when I know we are not compatible and he cannot move here.

Looking back 2021 was a difficult year and quite a few goodbyes and just letting go of some relationships. My friend from middle school, a friend that would text me all the time but was stuck in his pessimistic thought and continuously putting me down for my optimism, brothers in Christ through online dating I message less and physically choosing to walk away from the president architect that married last fall with the girl he chose over me. It's all caused me to look at my investments and what time I put into different relationships. Some relationships keep coming back to me, but I think it's in a fresh new way with a different understanding. And I believe some of the difficult friendships that I have, I needed time and space but the Lord does want those people in my life. Sigh.

I don't suffer from that problem - I can be very cut-throat, and will without qualm, sever ties with troublesome people.

Sometimes, certain personalities contradict our lifestyles and will cause us to swerve off course. You're right when you say "it hinders both of us" - because it absolutely does.

Sometimes, I do actually get it wrong though. There's been members on this very forum of whom I grew impatient with, when the fault was actually with me. Because looking back, those people were good for me to have around.

In the case of the latter, it was more a timing issue. They arrived five or six years too early when I wasn't quite as developed spiritually. I could reach out to them, but the chances are, they've built an ugly image of me in their minds over the years and wouldn't want to hear from me.

Moral of the story, be brutal. But prudently so. Caution!

I think of it because of just being winter. I think we are all like bears and eat a lot more sleep. It is our hibernation time and we really have to do a lot more self-care to ready ourselves for the spring and the busy summer season.

When it comes to these kind of plots, I usually think of Alabama. Going by what you just said, I'm assuming Mississippi is especially notorious for these incidents.

I was once told by a Floridan that their state laws surrounding crime journalism are much looser compared to the rest of the country. This could possibly be a similar contributing factor for these kind of movies.
