  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, we obey because of love for others, this is when we love God( it is predicted they love themselves now instead..

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Which is not what either of these two scriptures mean.

We show love to GOD when we only worship Him, do not bow to idols, not vain His name and keep His holy Sabbath day.

We show love to OTHERS when we obey/respect our parents, not bear false witness (lie) not murder each other or steal, covet what they have, commit adultery.

Jesus speaks on this very thing as He did not come to DESTROY the law but to MAGNIFY Isaiah 42:21 which means to make GREATER not lesser and showed examples of this of how He wants us changed from the inside out and it starts with our thoughts. Matthew 5:17-30

The good tree cannot produce evil fruit, it is the planting of the Lord, and that needs to die to grow, if you seek to save your life, be comfortable in sabbath keeping, in deciding what to eat for clean and unclean, it is not trusting in God to lay your whole life down for others, including for the Gospel and the sake of Christ..

Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Luke 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Respecting parents cant be done through wrath:

Children are to be brought up in the admonishing and nurture of the Lord, they obey in the Lord ( not in the law) it is the first commandment with promise, but now the commandment is with liberty and love, and faith, FOR THE FATHERS TO NOT PROVOKE THEIR CHILDREN TO WRATH.....

Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

BECAUSE THE LAW WORKS WRATH...

Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

FOR THE WRATH OF MAN WORKS NOT THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD...

James 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

ISRAEL IGNORANT OF THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, DO NOT KNOW CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS ( NO LAW AND NO WRATH IN FAITH)..

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

A good tree obeys God, not disobeys which is what you're teaching. God tells us to Remember and keep holy the Sabbath day Exodus 20:8 you tell me to forget. I choose to believe God.

Us, you being the Jews in Judaism then.

Keeping the sabbath holy must be the same as every day Holy to the Lord now through Christ.

Now we are the Holy temple for the Lord to dwell in every day

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Ephesians 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Does not say this:
Keeping the sabbath holy must be the same as every day Holy to the Lord now through Christ.

Nor does it say this:

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Which does not teach what you teach. God only made one day holy and He only blessed one day from the beginning Genesis 2:1-3 and will continue for eternity Isaiah 66:23 as promised by God. Exodus 31:16

Your argument seems to be with the scriptures.

Remember is what was done, now this way is done...

Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Which does not say we are free to break a commandment of God including the Sabbath and holy day of the Lord.

We are going to have to agree to disagree.

Take care

Are you teaching this, the same as Apostle Paul, if not you do not qualify to teach what the commandments of God are..

1 Corinthians 4:11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

We show love to GOD when we only worship Him, do not bow to idols, not vain His name and keep His holy Sabbath day.
Actually, SB we show love to God when we do to the least of these. Israel would have shown love for God when they kept the Sabbath. Problem was they failed to do it. Gentiles didn't have the Sabbath requirement, so their love to God was a different formula. Same is true today. Christians, too, do not have the Sabbath. We show our love to God by how we treat our fellow man.

The love of God was shed into our hearts by the Holy Ghost given to us, so without faith it was not possible to ever please God or show love in a commandment that is beneficial for the ones doing it.

Love of God is to lay your life down, cant anyone know that this benefits only the other?

Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Do you perceive the love of God anyone, that His commandment is the greater love ?

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

You keep trying to make God’s covenant of Ten into a covenant of nine and this is just not biblical.
You need to stop mixing up the old covenant with the new covenant and the new covenant is not simply the 10 commandments from the old covenant of law "repackaged."

Exodus 34:28 The one commandment you teach we should forget is the one commandment God told us to REMEMBER,
I teach to forget? I have not forgotten what the 4th commandment is for Israel under the old covenant of law and I am not an Israelite under the law of Moses. Exodus 34:28 is the OLD COVENANT OF LAW. Once again, who was God addressing when He said remember the sabbath day, to keep it Holy? Exodus 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Who did God bring out of the land of Egypt? The Israelites.

Deuteronomy 5:15 - And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.

Exodus 31:16 - The Israelites are to observe the sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. 17 It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested. There is no 'US' here.

it is the only commandment that uses the word “holy” and “blessed” which cannot be undone Numbers 23:20 God promised it would be a perpetual covenant Exodus 31:16 which we see fulfilled Isaiah 66:23.
Perpetual covenant with WHO? The Israelites. Has the old covenant been made obsolete by the new covenant? (Hebrews 8:13; 2 Corinthians 3:6-9)

God personally wrote the Ten Comamndments and placed in the Most Holy of His Temple. God had a Temple on earth and one in Heaven Revelations 11:19 and we all know what is inside the ark of the Covenant. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit to help us obey these very commandments John 14:15-18
The Holy Spirit does not help us obey the 10 commandments under the old covenant of law as a legalistic prescription for salvation. The life of discipleship flows out of the new command, to love one another as He loved us. (John 13:34) Love fulfills the law. (Romans 13:8-10) References for the moral aspect of 9 of the 10 commandments are reiterated under the new covenant, yet the command to keep the sabbath day is not binding on Christians under the new covenant. (Colossians 2:16-17)

God’s Ten Commandments are repeated in the New Testament

The Law of God in the New Testament.
1. "You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve" (Matthew 4:10).
2. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (1 John 5:21). "Since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising" (Acts 17:29).
3. "That the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed" (1 Timothy 6:1).
4. "He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: 'And God rested on the seventh day from all His works.' There remains therefore a rest ["keeping of a sabbath," margin] for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His" (Hebrews 4:4, 9, 10).
5. "Honor your father and your mother" (Matthew 19:19).
6. "You shall not murder" (Romans 13:9).
7. "You shall not commit adultery" (Matthew 19:18).
8. "You shall not steal" (Romans 13:9).
9. "You shall not bear false witness" (Romans 13:9).
10. "You shall not covet" (Romans 7:7).
Our 'sabbatismos' rest found in Hebrews 4:9 is in regards to our perpetual rest found in Christ, in contrast to the weekly sabbath under the law. This describes a period of rest for God’s people which is modeled after and is a fulfillment of the traditional sabbath. The Greek word "sabbatismos" is used no where else in the Bible.

SermonIndex.net Audio Sermons - Sermon Index

Hebrews 4:10 says the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. That person has entered in God’s rest through Jesus "rests from his own work" (in contrast of trying to keep the law) as God ceased or rested from His works in the seventh day of creation. God's ultimate, true rest did not come through Joshua or Moses, but through Jesus Christ. Joshua led Israel into the promised land, which was merely the earthly rest which was but a shadow of what was involved in the heavenly rest. The rest in Christ that God offers is spiritual and is superior to that which Joshua obtained.

Israel's earthly rest was filled with conflict and attacks from their enemies and the daily cycle of work. The "sabbatismos" rest enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast with the weekly sabbath under the law, is found only in Christ and not law keeping. Although for centuries the Jews had found their physical rest in a day, the new covenant takes the focus off the shadows of the Old Testament signs and rituals and reveals their spiritual substance -- the fulfillment/reality—in the person of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 2:16-17)

Jesus talks about keeping the Sabbath years after He descends back to heaven Matthew 24:20 so it was never the intent of Jesus that the Sabbath would be changed. God claimed only one day in the entire Bible to be holy and that is the seventh day Sabbath Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 30:8-11, Isaiah 58:13
In Matthew 24:15, we read - Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Who is being addressed here? The Israelites. Not on the sabbath day because the gates of Jerusalem would be locked and they could not get out. Israel in general has rejected their Messiah and are still seeking to keep the law of Moses. Hence the mention of 'sabbath' years after He descends back to heaven. Exodus 30:8-11 and Isaiah 58:13 is old covenant. Mixing the old and new covenants together remains your achilles heel.

Under the new covenant, we read - Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

You might want to quote an actual SDA source on what SDA’s beleive instead of non-SDA sources that takes it intentially out of context.

What do Seventh Day Adventists Really Believe? - Adventist.org
These non-SDA's from these sources I quote do not intentionally take things out of context and are former SDA's who know exactly what SDA's believe. It's painfully obvious what you really believe.

Not according to Jesus who said the Sabbath was made for man. Mark 2:27. Man was created on the sixth day Genesis 1:26 the day before first Sabbath and before Jews. The Sabbath continues to be God’s chosen day of worship for eternity for ALL FLESH Isaiah 66:23, not just Jews.

God’s Israel means God’s people not a nationality. Maybe you can quote the covenant God only made with the Gentiles? If you are not part of God’s Covenant you can’t claim the promises and the Covenant both the Old and the New is made with Israel. Gal 3:28

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Again, how do you have faith in God, but not have faith in what He commands for us to do. Be doers of the Word not hearers. James 1:22

Hebrews still keep the sabbath, it is not of love, it is of self seeking, as all in the law is, as the man lives by them, or is cursed when he breaks them.

To talk a lot, and to be on these forums for years, proves no love of God to anyone, I am on for a moment, then will let you all return to your debates, and disputes.

Love is in deed and truth, how on earth is it in word and tongue ?

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

The warnings in the Gospel are for everybody, because the whole world is questioned now, to not have faith, so SDA are only one example of faith through law, nobody else shows any better.

Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The chosen day of worship is the day of salvation for those in faith..

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

God’s Israel means God’s people not a nationality. Maybe you can quote the covenant God only made with the Gentiles? If you are not part of God’s Covenant you can’t claim the promises and the Covenant both the Old and the New is made with Israel. Gal 3:28

The covenant made only with the Gentiles is the one where the people of Israel are slain and Gods servants named by another name

Isaiah 65:15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

1 Thessalonians 2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
