How do you become "Sanctified".

Its like this.... 1 Corinthians 1:30

= Jesus is our entire Sanctification.
Do you have Him in you?
Are you born again and not just water baptized??

So, when we are "In Christ", we are as sanctified as God Himself.
And why?
Because our born again Spirit is our real identity.
Its the REAL YOU. And this is the 'new Creation".
Notice that its not the old creation, or the "flesh" that is trying to be good and keep commandments.
But rather, is God who has BIRTHED your dead spirit ALIVE into Himself, by His Holy Spirit.
This SPIRITUALLY recreates you as 'ONE WITH GOD" "In Christ".
It is GOD Himself joining Himself to your Spirit, and this creates NEW LIFE, and the NEW BIRTH, and you as the "new Creation".
= Born again.

And as born again, you become :

= "as Jesus is.... so are the born again IN this World".

--------------------------------------------

Our Discipleship, is not our sanctification, its only our discipleship.
A lot of Christians confuse Salvation with Discipleship, and get all caught up in works and commandment keeping and PERFORMING to try to be accepted by God.
When you do that, you are not in correct Faith, as correct Faith understands that God Himself came down here to deal with your sin and your dead Spirit.
You can't do that with law and commandments, and that is why Jesus, who is God, told YOU...

"you must be born again".

Listen..

Salvation is the blood atonement that is God caused, by Christ's Blood and God's Spirit.
Discipleship is you living your life for God because God has made you a "new Creation in Christ".
See that?
See the difference between what God did for you, and what you do BECAUSE He did?

Salvation is God offering His HOLINESS to YOU, as "the Gift of Righteousness".
Discipleship is you presenting your body and behavior back to God as your discipleship, after you are born again > SANCTIFIED by the Blood of Jesus.

Reader, everything that God offers to accepts you, and bring you to heaven after you die, HE DID FOR YOU< as Christ on the Cross.
That is : "The Gift of Salvation".

You Discipleship, or your presenting your life back to God because He has SAVED YOU with Christ's BLOOD.... has no effect on being "made Righteous', which is our entire sanctification, as "born again".
We are "made righteous" by GOD through CHRIST, so, we can't become more righteous. But, we can exist in perfection as a disciple, as a lifestyloe, which is to have the mind of Christ = which is to walk in the Spirit.
To do this, you have to "renew" you mind.

To become "perfected", and exist as "the fullness of the Stature of Christ" is not found by deeds, or law, or commandments, or self sacrifice, .... its only found by having a perfectly renewed Mind that always and only reflects God's perspective of who we are as a born again NEW CREATION, made so by God Himself.
When you learn to SEE yourself as only the "new creation" "in Christ", and not as a saved sinner needing to be good, and keep commandments.....But when you get out of that carnal mind, and into the MIND that SEES YOU, as God has recreated you to be, then you are walking in the Spirit. This is the renewed mind.

Notice that the NT teaches you that can only please God by "faith", and that faith isn't deeds and works or commandment keeping.....but rather its found in perfected understanding = renewed MIND..
The REAL walk of Faith, is to exist as walking IN the Spirit.
This is not self effort, as Jesus told you.>"apart from me you can do nothing.".
So, when you are trying to DO something so that God will keep you, and accept you, then you are apart from The Grace of God that is the only reason He accepts you.
God does not accept you based on what you do. God only and always accepts you based on Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection.
See that CROSS ??? = God accepts THAT, only, to accept you.
That's "the GIFT of Salvation".

So, when you exist in this Real Faith, the you are finally existing in the renewed mind, which is to walk in the Spirit.
That's how you live the sanctified FAITH FILLED life that is pleasing to God.

Acts of the Apostles 10:35 those who "worketh righteousness" are the ones accepted with God.

The Holy Spirit sancitfies men (Romans 15:16) by His word (John 17:17). Therefore those obedient to the word are sanctified....the Spirit's word instructs men to obey by being water baptized whereby one then puts on Christ for being 'in Christ" is the only place sanctification is conditionally found (1 Corinthians 1:2). Sanctification is a life long process (Hebrews 2:11) that begins when one becomes a Christians and grows in faith. And to be eventually completely sanctified by God (1 Thessalonians 5:23) requires one to conditionally remain in Christ (Jude 1:1).

.

Firs of all, its foolish to think we are not all born with a adamic nature, that leads us to sin, and from that moment we are unholy, unrighteous and damned.
So, if you think that you can have access to God by your self effort, after you have sinned, then you have no idea why the Cross was raised for you.
Jesus said that there is one way to the Father, and its not by you working righteousness.
Its only by coming THROUGH HIM...... John 14:6.

You have to be born again to be accepted by God, butterball1.

The Bible does not teach man is born with a sin nature that causes man to sin against his will, that idea is a false teaching of men.

CHrist died for every man, (Hebrews 2:9) yet every man will not be saved for every man will not obey Christ (Hebrews 5:9). You did not give an example of God saving one who continued in disobedience to His will for God saves those, justifies and sanctifies, those that obey Him. You do not understand the cross provides a pathway for man to be saved but it is up to man to take that pathway by obeying Christ.

Again, Acts of the Apostles 10:35 those who "worketh righteousness" are the ones accepted with God. Peter did NOT say those who 'do nothing' are accepted with God or those who have 'faith only' are accepted with God. In order to be saved, God requires man to believe (John 8:24) repent (Luke 13:3) confess (Matthew 10:32-33) and be baptized (Mark 16:16) and those who obey God in doing such are saving themselves (Acts of the Apostles 2:40) by working God's righteousness and therefore are accepted with God. Those who do other than God says (as faith only, sinner's prayer, etc) are trying to save themselves by their own righteousness.

One is born again when he obeys God in doing God's righteousness when he submits to water baptism as GOd has commanded men.

John 3:5---------- born of water and of the Spirit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>enter the kingdom
Matthew 7:21-----he that doeth the will of the Father>>>>>>>>>>>>>>enter the kingdom

Since there is but one way to be saved, then being born of water and of the Spirit is doing the will of God. Again, God commanded water baptism and those who obediently submit to water baptism and are thereby doing God's righteousness are the one's born again. No way to be born again apart from "doing" God's will.

Those who are sanctified have been "set apart/made holy" in standing before God positionally in Christ.

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

The New Testament teaches exactly that Paul said that "what i would do, i dont do, and what i dont want to do i do", as His explanation of the power of sin, being the Law.

Do you own a NT?
You should study Paul's epistles.

Sanctification is a process of the work Jesus did in you when he separated your spirit from your body

scripture states. It’s good for the division of body and spirit. Even bone and marrow

so by faith we understand we are separated and by this very action Jesus did. His word cleanses us. Recall Jesus saying to the apostles. Because of the word I spoke to you. You are clean. They didn’t hear it with physical ears. It was spoken to them in their spirit. Which is what Jesus speaks to. Because as Paul says. Our flesh will not and can not comprehend or understand the spirit. . That was a sanctifying act for Jesus to speak into their spirits

then there is the mind. We are born again. But it’s our work with Jesus to bring our minds into subjection to his word. Because that’s the final battle ground. It pleased God to have the weeds and wheat to grow together until the harvest. A mystery no doubt. But a sanctifying mystery none the less

Its excellent theology, ....... that you are quoting Paul, directly from Colossians Chapter 2 that details the "spiritual circumcision made without hands".

Good work, Gary.

John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
In addition to being declared sanctified/holy through faith in Christ's atoning death on the cross (i.e., justification),
the NT likewise teaches being made sanctified/holy by the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers (i.e., process of
sanctification), through obedience in the Holy Spirit.

The NT presents two kinds of righteousness/sanctification/holiness:

righteousness of justification (positional--right standing with God's justice--not guilty, sanctified) and

righteousness of sanctification (progressive--a process of growth in sancification/holiness).

We are everywhere in the NT commanded to engage in the action of a process of holiness/sanctification.

"It is God's will that you be sanctified. . ." (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

". . .be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy--Lev 11:44-45.' "
(1 Peter 1:15-16)

"Just as you used to offer parts of your body in slavery to impurity, so now
offer your body in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness." (Romans 6:19)

Now that you have. . .become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness.

(Romans 6:22)

". . .let us purify ourselves from everthing that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting (completing) holiness out of reverence for God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)

. . .slaves to sin which leads to death. . .slaves to obedience which leads to righteousness."

(Romans 6:16)

The above Scriptures do not contradict positional righteousness/sanctification/holiness,
they are the process of the progressive righteousness/sanctification/holiness in which
we are to engage in our daily lives, which is why the writer of Hebrews states:

"Without holiness, no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14

Hebrews here is not making a point about not having what we do have in positional sanctification/holiness,

it's making a point about the process of progressive growth in sanctification/holiness.

You should study Paul's epistles.
If you are referring to Romans 7, Paul is not describing a totally depraved person for Romans 7:15 Paul is taking responsibility for his own sins he committed and is not talking about how he was born against his will for totally depravity would provide an excuse for his sinning making man an innocent victim of sin rather than the willful guilty perpetrator of sin that man is.

A totally depraved person would enjoy wallowing in their sins but Paul struggled and tried not to sin (I hate that (sin) that I do) someting a totally depraved person would not do.
In Romans 7 Paul is describing his life BEFORE he became a Christian living as an unbelieving Jew under the OT law of Moses. That OT law required flawless law keeping to be justified by it for just one sin brought the curse of that law upon one. Paul describes the struggle of trying to keep that OT law and its condemnation when one did sin and contrasts living under the law as Jew to a Christian "now" being in Christ where there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1). Now as a Christian Paul would be dead to sin (Romans 6:1-2) so he is not describing his life as a Christian in Romans 7 but as a Jew under the OT law BEFORE he became a Christian.
Nothing at all in the context about being born totally depraved because Paul writes that he does will to do good (Romans 7:15, 19, 21), he delights in the law of God (Romans 7:22) and does not will to do what is evil (Romans 7:19). This does not describe a totally depraved person.
Again, if men were born totally depraved then that has God UNJUSTLY judging men for an inability men were innately born with. Yet men are born pure, innocent, sinless and later in life, after learing right from wrong becoming accountable to God, men choose to sin. Then God JUSTLY condmens men formoral choices they make.

If you taking responsibility for you sin can get you into heaven after you die, then Why did God wrap Himself in human flesh, inside a Virgin's womb, to be born as the God Man, and die suffering on The Cross for your Sin?

Man is not born a sinner, born with total depravity for such gives man an excuse for his sin when man is "without excuse". Man is a sinner for he chooses to sin yet man does not have to die and be lost for those sins he chose to commit. For man can with that same volition he used to choose to sin to choose to obey and be saved. If Christ has not died on the cross then man would have no solution for the sins he chose to commit. But since Christ did die on the cross giving man a pathway to salvation man can choose that pathway by choosing to obey God be belieivng, repenting of sins, confessing with the mouth and submitting himself to water baptism for remission of those sins.

Man is not born a sinner, born with total depravity for such gives man an excuse for his sin when man is "without excuse". Man is a sinner for he chooses to sin.

The reality is, that "sin came into the world because of Adam" and forgiveness and righteousness came into the world as the 2nd Adam.

We are born with a nature that is of the devil.
This is why it is termed the "fallen" nature, as this is symbolic of the Devil as this..>"i beheld Satan FALL as Lightning from Heaven".

Jesus says of ALL unbelievers.....>"You are of your FATHER...the devil".

Paul says ......regarding ALL the born again, "you are no longer a servant, but a SON of God".

Well not exactly.
It is true that Hebrews 12:6 says that if you are a Son of God, you will be dealt with by the hand of God.
But that is not the usual, in the sense that God only has this avenue of growing you.

God is not going to beat you into righteousness anymore then you are going to take your fists to your children to teach them how to behave.

The discipline of God, is in exact proportion to the need of the believer.
God sees inside you, and knows what character issues need to be resolved, and He brings a SITUATiON to you, that you will go through that is the spiritual process of character refinement.
That happens.

But also, God can bring you to a good teacher who can get your wrong faith worked out, and get you on the road to perfected discipleship.

Always remember that "its the GOODNESS of God that leads you to repentance".
Its the goodness of God that He gives much more often then the hand of correction.

it's making a point about the process of progressive growth in sanctification/holiness.
I was once in a discussion in a thread entitled, “Is sanctification an a event, a process or both?” What was being discussed was in addition to being sanctified/set apart/made holy positionally in Christ through faith (Acts 26:18; Corinthians 6:11) we also have progressive sanctification in which the reality of that holiness becomes more and more evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 - For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain (present tense) from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.

So becoming washed, sanctified and justified in Christ is a one time event, yet abstaining from sexual immorality is not a one time event. The believer possess a positional, judicial standing of righteousness in Christ and, second, a remaining active pursuit in practical, progressive holiness, in regards to our ongoing sanctification.

In Hebrews 12:14, the NASB reads - Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Those who have been justified by faith are also sanctified/set apart/made holy before God positionally in Christ.

In Hebrews 12:15, we read - See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God. The NASB reads - comes short of the grace of God.. The ESV reads - ..fails to obtain the grace of God. Not a loss of salvation here but a failure to obtain it

Exactly - and if you think I interpret Heb 12:5-11 differently you do not know me.

BUT...in Heb 12:6, English Standard Version
For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

King James Bible
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
the chastises is actually the word scourges as per the KJV. And how do you scourge someone? mastigoó, Strongs' s 3146: to flog, scourge, the victim being strapped to a pole or frame and whipped with the cat of nine tails.

Just saying... It is HIS loving rehabilitative intent that makes this a proper chastisement, not any lack of intensity as it matches perfectly the person's recalcitrance.

Those who Christ died for are sanctified by His death Heb 10:10

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
If this is the be all and the end all then Heb 12:5-11 about our being trained in righteousness is balderdash, just so much babble.
