• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ID is officially dead.

Well, yeah. Our own planet pre-dates the existence of the earliest life on it. Likewise, the universe is far older than life on this planet.
Yes, so it seems...

If it ain't dead, it's limping along on life support.

Another indicator of the lack of research or attention to ID is the paucity of papers published in BIO-Complexity, an ID journal.

The Journal of Evolutionary Applications gets more research papers published in a single month than BIO-Complexity does in an entire year.

25 article in 11 years. Not a bad record for... one researcher (depends on field). Fewer than I have in the same period. I should start my own journal, that would eliminate those pesky referees.

Haha! No, not by accident.
Of course not. "By accident" is a dishonest attempt to slur how evolution works. The intention is to make others think that it is a totally random process, which it is not.

Long live Creationism!
Creationism is even deader, hmm more dead? Anyway ID is at best a reanimated corpse where the zombies are stumbling and saying "brains! brains!" Creationism is the dead frog in a biology lab that you cannot get to kick even with the liberal use of electrodes.

We better not ask where the laws of nature come from (even a child knows that the existence of a law requires a law-giver). We also should not ask where matter actually comes from. Or where space comes from. We have to take all these things for granted, because otherwise we'd have to believe in an intelligent Creator :)

Oh my! Massive equivocation fallacy.

Can't you do any better? Natural laws are descriptive. Human laws are proscriptive. There has never been shown the need of a writer of descriptive laws.

Not if creationist demographics trends are any indication...
Is that supposed to be news to us?

Hint:

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
pitabread said:
(Made even worse for creationists in light of the pandemic.)
As far as that pandemic, we were warned.

Leviticus 11:19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

No. Abusing the Bible does not mean that we were warned. Now you are making the same sort of error as this:

"There is no God" the Bible. Quotes out of context are an abuse, not a use.

One can objectively examine contemporary phenomena without agreeing to how it got here.

Atomic theory, spheroid Earth et al. does not demand that I subscribe to evolution.

That's what I told my mom once, when she caught me with my hand in the cookie jar.

It didn't work.

Fair enough. Not-random implies order, no? Wonder where that principle came from?

Ew, some guy from the creation institute was making 133 thousand a year?

It's no wonder their crap shoot ideas has been going on so long. I'd advocate for unicorns for that salary.

Gotta love america sometimes. Guys a complete fraud and makes six figures.

The ones listed on his web page are almost entirely in his own journal. The courses he is teaching both look to be about ID. As far as I can tell, Biola is a real university. They are accredited by a group that as far as I can tell also accredits UCLA. But that’s not a publication record many universities would find acceptable.

I wasn't talking about the guy who left for Biola University [sic], I was just comparing the total output of the "journal" to single (real) scientist. Then I realized it was less than my output.

Biola claims to be a real university, but I remain unconvinced.
