And then I thought about my reactions. I'd thought about our kids and who was going to tell them. I wondered how much it was going to hurt. But I realised I'd made no pact with anyone for help. There was no 'Please God...'.
Strangely enough I felt...reassured by that. I'd always classed myself as an atheist and it seemed that when the chips were down I didn't unconsciously play the Pascal card. I'd been in the foxhole and emerged still an atheist.

Not sure what you're saying. Are you saying you're proud of yourself that you maintained a composure of being a self made man?
It may reflect some real world event, even though some details of it are understandably lost or made to be more symbolic (like 40 days, a dove etc.).Even when I was still a christian, I knew that the bible flood story was mythology. A parable meant to teach us something deeper. Not a factual account of an actual event.
The story was just too far fetched to be real.

You said you would only use what the bible actually says. Your arguments fail as they require you to add to what is there.Visible to Noah...from the point on earth where Noah was.
The water could have been receding and the Ark could have been floating in an area where the mountain height was so low that they only became visible late in the timeline...notwithstanding the fact that OTHER mountains on the other side ot the globe were already visible.
THATS a contextual reality of topography.
Or, alternatively, some are perfectly capable of understanding but aren't convinced due to a complete and utter lack of supporting objective evidence. If anyone is beat, Brad, it's their fault.
Some try very hard not to understand, and they're good at it.
That's the way the nuns taught it.Even when I was still a christian, I knew that the bible flood story was mythology. A parable meant to teach us something deeper. Not a factual account of an actual event.

That word next to your faith button does that.Remind me never to be at God's mercy.
Not the Ark. That's for sure.So if Noah dismantled it... what does Ron Wyatt discover every few years?
Then what happened?Even when I was still a christian, I knew that the bible flood story was mythology.
Then I had my 8th birthdayThen what happened?
And?Then I had my 8th birthday
I think the fox hole quote pertains to being subjected to longer periods of the stress you were under for a brief moment. But, my expertise is in physics, so...A few years ago my wife and I were involved in a traffic incident where, for a few long seconds, I was pretty certain that our time was up (it unfortunately was for three others). And standing together shortly after, waiting for the emergency services, she said something odd. She said 'I didn't scream, did I'. I think she wanted to confirm to herself that she'd kept it together. Which she had.
And then I thought about my reactions. I'd thought about our kids and who was going to tell them. I wondered how much it was going to hurt. But I realised I'd made no pact with anyone for help. There was no 'Please God...'.

And what?And?
Then what happened? This went on for another 12 years.
Then I moved out on my own, and left the sheltered world of home. Then what happened?

The thing that puzzles me about the 'Black Sea Flood' hypothesis is that at present there are several large rivers (the Danube, the Dniester, the Dnieper and the Don in Europe, and the Sakarya and the Kizil Irmak in Turkey) that flow into the Black Sea. As a result the level of the Black Sea is higher than that of the Mediterranean and the present water flow is from the Black Sea into the Mediterranean.
If the same rivers existed when the Black Sea was cut off from the Mediterranean, they should have filled the Black Sea basin until the sea overflowed into the Mediterranean, as it does at present. A flow of water from the Mediterranean into the Black Sea could only occur if the present rivers did not exist, or if their flow was much reduced. Can anybody explain this and show where I am wrong?
