I'll accept that! :oldthumbsup:I'm sorry. Did I miss a question from you directed at me?

The answer was so short I missed it. Perhaps you could elaborate....

I see connected to your post the statement - The Bible says it, that settles it....

-The Bible says it, that settles it - "Kill all the men, women, children and animals ..."
-The Bible says it, that settles it - In Genesis - "Light before the creation of the sun... " (and lots of other pre-scientific and modern things when humans were primitive/ignorant, that we now know are completely false)
-The Bible says it, that settles it - "Sun stopped in the sky ... so really the earth stopped (from modern knowledge) ..." think about the consequences of this...
-The Bible says it, that settles it - "People should be stoned, especially women for certain acts or put to death just for being who they are (homosexuals) Lev. 20:13 ..."
-The Bible says it, that settles it - "There supposedly existed lots of OT people - Abraham, Moses, Adam, David etc. However, outside the Bible we have absolutely no evidence of them, unlike lots of people from real history at the same time. Hmm, kind of makes you wonder whether there was a conspiracy to hide the evidence that they existed ...?

-The Bible says it, that settles it - There is a god or gods - many people would agree there are god or gods but disagree who or what that god is. Definitely the Bible doesn't settle these things.

.... - I could go on and on for pages....

Good grief!

Pick one and I'll see if I can't give you an answer you can deny, ridicule, or roll your eyes at.

I'll do my best.

(And I said "can" ... not "can't".)

Sorry. I don't believe that at all.

I think the idea that it is 2021 is a universal fact.
So once again you are wrong.
According to the Chinese calendar, we are in the year 4719
According to the Islamic calendar, its presently 1442
According to the Hindu calendar, it's 2076

Not it won't. I promise you. I'm getting tired of getting vegomaticked with standard academic rhetoric sloppy answers to good questions.

It's interesting that using large fonts is considered yelling on an Internet forum.

In the Bible, we see the authors yelling their names quite loudly.

MATTHEW
MARK
LUKE
JOHN

And for all that, academia considers them anonymous.

Sounds par.
Nope, the is mere church tradition. In actuality all of them are anonymous.

I don't believe that.

That would be an amazing coincidence.

When did that "common era" start?

Without the birth of Jesus, there wouldn't be a consensus, would there?

Is it 2021 CE? 6025 CE? 300,000 CE?

I mean, some use Metric and some use Imperial?

So I'll ask:

What year would it be right now, if Jesus had never been born?

And since I doubt very seriously I'll get an honest straightforward answer, I'd say honest answers would include a variety of answers, based on the event being used for 1 CE.
Oh if Jesus had not been born? Who knows. Perhaps we would be on the Muslim calendar.

Ya ... blame the logic.

It wouldn't occur to them to go back to their drawing boards, would it?

In other words, it wouldn't occur to them that these "whole civilizations that were experiencing their golden ages of progress" just might be wrong, would it?

Of course not.

Not if they can blame it on logic.
I don't think that you understand logic.

As if different cultures didn't have different calendars.

I was talking to someone last week about an overseas trip I'd made and literally said 'Oh, but this was one year BC.'

So it's not 2021 in Biafra right now!?

You just switched what we were talking about. We were talking about children in school would be learning what the calendar says in their culture. This current statement implies we are back in our culture. In our culture, by historical consensus it is 2021. Depending how I interpret the question may or may not be 2021. If referring instead to people in Biafra, I'm not sure whether they use the GC. if they don't then it could be different.

You seem to be confused. You do not ask "good questions". That is why you get the responses that you get.

Can't and won't are kind of the same thing.
In the event, I used the word "capacity" which none of our
local creationists have.
They in no way have the capacity to learn science.

Look at what happened just about the date when octopus
and squid appeared. Our creo showed an absolute incapacity
to learn that his memory from ten yrs ago was wrong.

And he is far from the worst.
Unlike him I was not "sure" which answer was right. So I looked it up. It turns out that both of his claims were wrong. . . . Who woulda thunk it?

I've heard that rumor before.

I don't believe it, but I've heard it before.

"Accretion," I think it's called.

You should look up things that you don't know before you pretend to know them. It saves embarressment.

"In astrophysics, accretion is the accumulation of particles into a massive object by gravitationally attracting more matter..." wiki.

Typical creationist binary thinking.
Either or, two possibilities, none other.

A little knowledge of geology would tell you a river may
cur a deeper channel, or up build up a higher channel.
Or stay stable.

And that a river cutting down faster than the land is rising
actually will not have to flow uphill!
Why so set on it taking millions of years? The uplifting is just one idea. Fact is, they are still guessing.
