Dear Person Reading This

My symptoms started when I was nine years old. After struggling for many years, I was diagnosed with co-occurring conditions: borderline personality disorder, bipolar, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, among other symptoms and problems.

At the age of 35 I had a near death experience and realized I could not go on this way. I started praying earnestly to God and asked Him to help me heal my mental illness. Everything I had tried up until then did not work. So, I started doing research to find the causes of my problem. For five years I collected information. My discoveries were like puzzle pieces building the puzzle, until I finally understood why I was ill.

Mental illness has three components: the mind, body, and spirit. It does not help if we only treat one aspect and ignore the others. When Jesus healed people while He was on the earth, He healed the whole person, not just their ailment. This was my experience, but to heal, God had to point out to me what was causing my illness.

“Wilt thou be made whole?” KJV, John 5:6

From a mental point of view there were underlying beliefs that were faulty due to bullying and abuse. I had to correct my thinking and retrain my thoughts. I also studied the effects that television and unhealthy music have on the brain, and it was shocking, so I gave up worldly entertainment. Now I keep myself occupied with healthy things.

From a physical point of view, I discovered that I was gluten intolerant by going for an intolerance test, and I learnt that food intolerances can cause inflammation, not only in the body but also in the brain. When I gave up gluten my inner pain started to heal. I also made other dietary and lifestyle changes that contributed to my healing.

From a spiritual point of view, I drew closer to God, by reading the Bible and praying, repenting of my sins, and becoming aware of the spiritual war within my soul. I can sense more clearly now when Satan is trying to get to me. I recognize his lies and his presence, and respond to it as Jesus did, with "It is written...", quoting the Bible and praying for help.

There are many discoveries that I made on this journey, and I would like to share it with those who might be struggling, so I made a website containing all the things that I have learnt, in the hope that it can help someone. God did not say this for no reason:

“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” Exodus 15:26

Jesus can still heal if we "do what is right in His sight". You can read my full testimony here:

I went through two of the three. The mental and the spiritual. I too had to correct my thinking, because of my upbringing. I too recognized the effects of entertainment, not only on myself but society as a whole (this cannot be understated). I too found stability in Christianity, where I identified all of the issues in my life and removed them one by one.

Thank you for sharing your testimony. You are not alone in these things.

From what I read, I can agree with you about this issue and its resolution. Just as the car can't run on sugar-water, the body can't run well on many of the foods we keep stuffing into our tanks. The world's main influencer is indeed out to "kill, steal, and destroy," but Jesus has indeed come that we might have life abundantly. As a man thinks, so is he, as it is written, but by renewing our minds taking every thought captive to Christ (and He is the Truth) we can see our situations more clearly, and as His word is a light for out path, we can walk more clearly when we are attending to what He says. I'm glad for your testimony.
