Trump won't win another election. He's exposed him self for the seditious monster he is, and even his cult is fracturing under the weight of what he's done.

Not fracturing nearly enough, as his loyal and obedient defenders are illustrating.

The capitol was stormed for the first time in over 200 years, and not by a foreign power, not by patriots, but by seditious fools led astray by conspiracy theories and a cult of personality.

...which still has too many followers.

That's not a valid reason to impeach a president. We have had major cities burned, looting, murders, and many Democrat leaders have refused to denounce it. I feel there will be more violence once Joe gets
and the left tries to squash people's rights. But that's not a justifiable reason to impeach Biden.
Trump is finally being held accountable. He lied continuously about election fraud and lied about it being stopped if Pence and Congress would simply ignore the delegates certified by the states. This is on his rap sheet.

Quite simply they have not been given the opportunity. For example, in Georgia two of the observers swore under penalty of perjury that they were told the counting had ended for the evening. In a court of law you are allowed to subpoena everyone who was there, get access to any recordings, and then an evidentiary hearing is held. If not the major media, some network would cover the hearing where you would hear testimony and there would be cross examination--just like you have seen in countless court cases. Then a judge weighs the evidence and gives a verdict. So where are the videos of such hearings or at least a written account of such hearings? We know the counting continued because a private firm recorded what happened when the observers left-- what looked like a suitcase was pulled out and ballots counted. Since there has been no evidentiary hearing, what efforts have the media made to speak with everyone there? The workers have lawyered up, at least the media should report that they have refused to answer questions.
He spent months (if not years) piling up the wood and pouring gasoline on it. Only to set out a lighter, gather everyone around the wood pile and start complaining about how cold it is and it would be great if there was a way to not be cold anymore.
Your attempted justification of the sedition is noted.

I think a lot of Democrats realize there was election fraud. Officials have had two months to provide explanations as to why the voting stopped and to release the election machine logs and copies of the ballots. These are simple steps. Instead those officials and their supports have shown extreme cowardice and are moving this nation toward a crisis. The talk of "healing" was a big lie. Don't give into hatred, hatred begets hatred. Demand that the election records be made public. Work together to insure all future elections are fair. Get the vaccines to the elderly and those with compromised systems.

You're fooling yourself.

Officials have had two months to provide explanations as to why the voting stopped and to release the election machine logs and copies of the ballots.

They were under no obligation to do so. Surely nobody provided sufficient reason to compel them.

The “widespread election fraud” is a con job. Over 60 court cases, including the Supreme Court, 50 states, both houses of Congress cannot all be simultaneously wrong. It is time for the Trump election fraud con to be relegated to the fake moon landing category now.

Let's see those ballots and election logs. It's so easy, that is, if you really believe there was no election fraud.

No one has yet been obligated. The Georgia workers involved have lawyered up, they have every right to not incriminate themselves under U.S. law. I've dealt with government corruption before, it is all big talk right up until the point when you say "let's see."

I believe the Moderators here should be removing any talk of the election being stolen from Trump the same way they do with other QAnon nonsense.

You're not entitled to see them, and even if you were, how would you be able to spot a fraud?

And they're not going to be without probable cause.

They have every right to protect themselves from conspiracy theorists.

"President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani both mistakenly made calls to Republican Sen. Mike Lee as deadly riots were unfolding at the US Capitol earlier this week, a spokesman for the senator confirmed to CNN -- calls that were intended for another GOP senator the White House was frantically trying to convince to delay the counting of Electoral College votes." link

Trump, rather than trying to stop the riot in the Capitol building or worrying about the safety of the VP or others at the Capitol, was instead trying to get Senators to delay the certification of the Electoral Votes.

"Shortly after 2 PM....."

I look forward to the Benghazi....err Capitol security hearings.

Free and open debate are crucial to a free society. If someone is telling a ridiculous story unsupported by facts then this should be evident in an open debate--there is nothing to fear. At the moment we, as a country, are on the brink of impeaching the President of the United States. To try and censor and silence even the President himself in such a situation is telling. And I must say that the same group doing this are the same bunch that launched a four-year Russian collusion conspiracy theory based on anonymous testimony. And all the president did was make a congratulatory phone call. If you are so set on censoring, and I don't advocate it, those four year conspiracy people should be the first bunch to be censored.

If you would just think it through, why would a president who has been urging Congress to challenge the electoral count somehow send some individuals to attack the Capitol right when Ted Cruz challenges the electoral count from Arizona. What would be the purpose? There was no attempt to hold the ground or burn the building down as left wing groups do.
I don't recall any left wing groups burning down the Capitol.
Instead we have the typical ungrounded attack on "left wing groups" whoever they may be.
Maybe because the legal challenges had petered out through lack of evidence. I don't know what really goes on in Trump's mind

The free and open debate has happened. It even went to court where it was found to have no evidence, just an insane conspiracy theory that has lost in court at clip that even the Washington Generals would think is bad.

Trump isn’t being silenced. He broke Twitter’s rules and was treated like any of us would be. In fact even better because he was given much more leniency than the rest of us would. Even more than that, if Trump said he wanted a press conference in twenty minutes, every major network would come and have their cameras rolling, they would all show it on their social media pages and cut into whatever they were showing on television including NFL playoff games. If he had something to say to the nation there is an easy way to do it.

The Republican overseen Mueller Report
https://www.justice.gov/storage/report.pdf
and the Republican led Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Report_Volume2.pdf
both say the Russia thing wasn’t a hoax.

No “widespread election fraud”. Even Rudy wouldn’t claim fraud when pressed. BTW, who is it that you say committed and abetted this level of Fraud? I’ve asked before and never get a single name in response. Lindsey Graham has had the same problem.

I wonder how politics in the US has become this polemical/adversarial/even violent
Institutions such as the law courts and election officials are not trusted and denigrated
How has this happened?
And of course there is a lot of polemic on social media.

This is a general comment rather than commentary on this thread.

It is evident. Over 60 courts including the Supreme Court along with 50 states and both houses of Congress back me up.

He gave a speech to the crowd detailing exactly why he wanted them to march on congress but you can't figure out why he did so?
