Nobody is free except those who control the purse strings and shortly the new future they are referring to with bring back better will remove ownership.
I thought Jesus told the disciples following Him or listening to Him what they were required to do if they wanted to be His disciples ? i.e. give up ownership....
So that, per se, is not anything harmful nor to be avoided for all those seeking to be Jesus' disciples.
There used to be another phrase also, popular or understood anyway, by believers --- it was something like this >> "You cannot enslave a Bible believing people".
i.e. Like Jesus disciples in the NT, even under arrest, in prison, and beaten (even martyred) , they were still more free than all the other people's / nations.
Their lives were (and are), free in God's Kingdom, with Joy, Peace, and Righteousness, albeit with necessary persecution and potentially giving up their life because of or for their faith in God.
Meanwhile, those "who control the purse strings".... well.... would you want to be in their place on judgment day ? It may well be as written , they "are already condemned (by God's Judgment) because of their unbelief", and when resurrected, will be for destruction.
