Some believe once saved always saved, with some scripture to suggest this. Some believe they can lose salvation, with some scripture to suggests this. I do not wish to argue, debate over this, just your thoughts on the above question, whichever side you're on.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him

We no longer look to be served. We look to serve and give our lives for others. No longer fight for privilege, influence and status. We esteem others better than ourselves and put their interests above our own.

Peace be with all those in the body of Christ

Get your truth from the scriptures.

Romans 10

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Clearly, that would be the point we are saved.

The following explains what side I'm on.

It's the "then what" that some have trouble with, and though I won't argue it here either, that is the reason they created faith only or the "always saved" mentionen in the OP, where it is not a necessity to act or do good and not evil. Or the false doctrine of easy way salvation.

We are saved then and if we truly believe/have faith we will do all that Christ says we must do, and that includes helping the poor/doing good in general, and being good, as good goes for us humans.

If that doesn't happen, we either never truly had salvation and were just going thriugh the motions, or we lost interest due to the temptations of the world, at which point we have no salvation. The loss therof is all described in the parable of the sower..

I believe the word saved is a current status not a one time act or event. Since we must abide in Christ in order to be saved we can only be saved if we are currently abiding in Christ.

You talk a lot more about being not saved than you do being saved. Just say that you have to work really hard for your salvation and be done with it.

Scripture says the following regarding salvation. There is a past aspect, a present aspect and a future aspect to our salvation.

Past
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. cf Acts 15:11; Ephesians 2:5

Present
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. cf Acts 2:47; 2 Corinthians 2:15

Future
Romans 5:9
having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

hope this helps!!!

Out of respect for the OP who indicated no debates, or arugments on the issue, I'll refrain from responding.

There’s also conditions to maintaining salvation.

yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach- if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:22-23‬ ‭NASB

Yet He has NOW reconciled you
To present you Holy & blameless (on judgement day)
IF you stand firm in the faith.

Hi RickReads, just a question on your thoughts. Do you believe we are saved for good works, no works at all, bad works or a combination of all the works mentioned?

I am pro works, but no deed that you do is salvic. The death of Jesus worked because mankind wasn`t part of the transaction.

Proponents and opponents of "once saved always saved" will both state that they are relying on the scriptures to support their view.
The fact is that anyone of us is free to interpret the scriptures any way we choose. That is why we have literally thousands of Christian denominations, each with their own views on what the Bible supposedly teaches.
I think it helps to find out what the earliest Christians had to say about the matter. Why? Because they were the very ones who were taught directly by the Apostles. They lived around the same time the gospels were first written. Virtually none of them believed in once saved always saved. From the evidence that we have, it is clear that they believed it was possible for an unpersevering and negligent Christian to lose their salvation. I am one of those who happens to agree with their teaching.
As a non-supporter of OSAS, I have, many times, been been judged of "heresy" by those who support this view. Yet I am more inclined to accept the teachings of the early Christians taught by the Apostles, rather than those of the later Reformers who appeared over a millenium and a half later. Whoever is the heretic, if indeed there is one, I leave it up to you to decide.
So in response to the question, my answer is one, two and three.

"Christ has no body now but mine. He prays in me, works in me, looks through my eyes, speaks through my words, works through my hands, walks with my feet and loves with my heart."
- St Teresa of Avila

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Sounds like He still has a body to me.

And the fallacy known as the appeal to authority can be said of your post.

Scripture not the ECF's should be the standard for truth. Scripture is inspired not anything else.

The case for the Eternal Security of the believer is found in the gospels and epistles. By definition Eternal Life never ends and Jesus gives Eternal Life to His sheep and no one or nothing can separate one from His or the Fathers hands. Paul makes that crystal clear in Romans 8 that nothing in this life can separate us from Christ.

I can provide numerous scriptures to support the above.

And the Scriptures that support Eternal Security far outweigh the questionable passage which give the "appearance" of losing salvation.

In fact there is not a single verse in the N.T. where a person who has Salvation/ Eternal Life loses it.

hope this helps !!!

How do you know that the New Testament books were inspired by God?
Paul declares so in 2 Timothy 3 and Peter confirms Paul's epistles are Scripture in 2 Peter 3.

Jesus also promised He would bring everything to the disciples remembrance after Pentecost when they received the promised Holy Spirit that would guide them into ALL Truth.

Any other questions on the inspired writings in the N.T. ?

hope this helps !!!
