  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Long haired men and women do look very distinct at least to a certain degree.

Yeah, hair isn't very productive to this conversation.

Eh.. you should see some of them.. lol. Although to be fair, I think steroid abuse contributed a lot to their facial appearances. Not to mention there are men who like trans-women. While notenous faces are the average norm, within a population there are always going to be genetic mutations that arise a diverse set of attractions and fetishes.

Most men prefer women around the age of 22, yet some men are born with an innate attraction to women in their 90s. Obviously such attraction is not beneficial for survival, so the numbers with this unusual attraction will always be small. Despite genetic mutations always occasionally wiring some men in such a way.

an example of different people relate in different ways is things like people following each other to the bathroom to talk to each other.

Look up androgynous men on TV tropes, or bishonen on TV tropes, or bald women on TV tropes.

When it comes to neoteny, hair on the head is pretty irrelevant. Both sexes can grow long hair just fine.

It looks wierd on men.

Long hair on men doesn't look weird on the head to me. It's subjective and cultural. I don't see anything biological about it.

Just because rastas do it doesnt mean its okay. its a pseudo Christian belief system similar to Judaism and Islam.

Well I'm not a Christian. If there are religious reasons fine, you're still going to have a tough time forming a biological argument for long hair being feminine. Plenty of cultures and time periods feature men sporting long hair.

Male elves are often portrayed as feminine or androgynous, in range from Pretty Boy or Bishounen to Ambiguously Gay. This is often used to cause dumbfounded confusion on reveal.

Occasionally, elves of both genders will be portrayed as androgynous, but usually the male androgyny is part of a broader tendency to portray all elves as particularly feminine, making the female elves anything but androgynous.

The "no facial hair" clause helps, but it's only a little part of the image — other beardless peoples are immune to this even while wearing braids and beads and being among the prototypes for elves. One of the probable reasons why feminine qualities of elves are played up is the intentional contrast between Elves and their traditional opposites, dwarves, who are basically hypermasculine: stout, muscular, hairy, axe-swinging drunks (which depending on the portrayal may apply to female dwarves as well, if they even have them).

Remember that elves and dwarves contrast along several lines: Slobs vs. Snobs, Harmony Versus Discipline, Romanticism Versus Enlightenment, and especially nature versus technology. Thus it makes sense that races that fit so well into the Mother Nature, Father Sciencetrope would even match the trope's gender implications: elves are feminine because nature is feminine, and all dwarves masculine because technology is masculine. This dichotomy also helps the both of them contrast against the mundane humans, who fit quite neatly between the two on all of these spectrums, including gender expression.

Because men like to refer to women with names that make them into helpless things---like chicks, baby, and so on. Chick=baby chicken. This makes them feel more powerful, protective, manly over the helpless little thing.

What is the biological reason?
