All that DNA did was make them taller, stronger, and gave them extra fingers (and toes?); and it made them volatile as well.

All the better for picking coconuts. ^_^

Imagine having to tell yourself this just to make your religion seem less irrational than it really is.

Doing things right works for me. :D

The purpose of religion is to improve the character and behavior of the person. Seems rational to me. If you are observant you must certainly see the correlation between declining spirituality and bad behavior. We're actually near the point of general madness.

If you believe in angels and evolution, explain how they came about.
Everyone’s essence requires a physical form to be fused with. We can investigate how the large brained mammals that our essences are fused together with came about, but we unfortunately just don’t have such access to the history of angelic bodies, so I think it can not be answered, but it may be that they didn’t evolve at all. It sure doesn’t sound like our future spiritual bodies will be a product of evolution.

Not clear what you mean.??
If it's more rational, you should be able to present the coherent steps of your rationale that led you to the conclusion that spiritual answers are more rational then material ones.

I suspect that you have a steady internal conviction... but little you can express as objective facts.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Do you think it's quite possible that Paul Bunyan was a real person ... and a Nephilim?
Unlikely as if he were nephilim he would have had to get his DNA from a nephilim parent, ie someone else extra big etc.
If he was real, most likley, he was a normal person that sufferred from giantism and his physical size may well have been exagerated with the passing of time after his death

I do find the theory of evolution compelling. I believe in angels. I believe angels are created ex nihilo. Pace Aquinas, unlike material beings, angels are not beings of hylomorphic composition, i.e. compound of matter and form. Moreover, angels are not differentiated by kind. Each angel is its own species, i.e. no possibility of common ancestry. Therefore, evolution as it pertains to material beings need not apply to angels.

For reference

Is Aquinas generally taken as an authoritative source on these kinds of things in Christian circles?

Just curious.

Well I have to give you an A for originality!

Who is Satan, in your opinion?
Satan may have been created when Adam metaphorically ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam immediately hid from God because he knew he was naked. Adam's self-judgment of his natural state shows the trap of the knowledge of good and evil. So that was the creation of Satan. Whenever humans judge their own behavior or the behavior of others to be good or evil then they are in a Satanic state of mind. "Judge not lest ye be judged" was the teaching of Jesus on how to overcome Satanic consciousness.

Best I can come up with this morning LOL

If you don't believe in angels, explain why you're in the minority.
What a stupid challenge (as usual). You dont ”belive” in evolution. Evolution is an observed phenomena and the ToE explains how it works.

Btw, most people here dont belive in angels. So your ”challenge” is a miss in many ways.

It's Satanic to judge one's own behaviour? What about Matthew 7:3 ?

So you're saying the "daughters of men" in Genesis 6 are responsible for "conscious-ing" their husbands into existence and, ultimately, corrupting all flesh on the Earth?

David fought Goliath, whose DNA could be traced back to a Nephlim, who was the offspring of one of these "angelic consciousnesses."

Wait... how is that possible if the flood wiped out everyone but Noah and his family? This was the reason for the flood in the first place, was it not?

Yes, but the bible also says, very quickly, that some survived. Genesis 6:4
Perhaps because they were part angelic some were able to escape some how; "and also after that" is all we have from the bible. :(

I think it was evil people and evil civilisation... the part human giants were just icing.

Given that later books imply that Anakim are connected to the Nephilim, maybe some or all of the survivors on the Ark are supposed to have giant blood. (Genesis isn't big on the ancestry of women, just Noah's male lineage to Seth rather than Cain.)

That is talking about before the flood. Geneisis 7:23 clearly states that every living thing except Noah and those with him on the ark died.

23 So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.
