What I have a problem with is the cry bullies who are shaming people who don't want to wear a mask

But remember most of these "bullies" you are talking about actually believe (as I do) that one should wear a mask to help protect other people. Not just yourself.

Society is built in no small way on people coercing each other to act in the benefit to the greater society. At least among decent humans who can so be coerced.

(NOW, I would NEVER want to be the "bully" in the scenario. I wouldn't call someone out on that in public. I don't think it's helpful...but you get the point)

....when the mask they wear do virtually nothing.

So you think. But what if you are wrong and the world's health experts are right?

They think they're being noble for wearing a mask

No, they are trying to get people to do a good thing to help everyone around them as well.

I use to be mask fitted for my job....and I understand what a fit test is.

No one is saying that cloth masks are as good as N-95 or that N-95 would be as good as a fitted respirator. But until your president ramps up production for everyone in the US to have N-95's easily available it's better than nothing.

Do I wear a mask? If the sign on the door says so. It keeps the Karens happy.

Excellent. We can expect nothing more. Even if you do it out of a dark place in your soul "keeping the <insert insulting term for someone else> happy!"

You are free to feel as you wish. If you are right, no harm no foul. But if you are wrong and you pass on bad information, well, there's potential harm there.

It doesn't matter how many times you say it, some people will just not let that sink in. You can demonstrate the purpose of a mask yourself. Hold your hand out at arms length. Now blow air out of your mouth at it. You should be able to easily feel the breath on your hand.

Now put a mask on and try it. If I do it, I have to hold my hand an inch from my mask to feel any breeze at all. That's the point of the mask; limit the distance the stuff coming out of you travels.

From the link...

"In addition to those deaths, Texas reported a new high for hospitalizations for the 10th consecutive day, according to FOX 26 Houston.

“That’s why we’re asking people to wear face masks,” Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales told local media. “I am now having to order additional body bags and morgue trailers. People have to understand how real it is.”

In Nueces County, the morgue is already at full capacity, and Nueces County Medical Examiner Dr. Adel Shaker has requested an extra morgue trailer to help with the overflow, according to the Texas Tribune.

“We have seen very few deaths for the first few months of the pandemic, so the FEMA trailer was placed in another city. But the need is here now,” he said."

You were saying???
Do not worry, I predict that the number of new hospitalisations is bound to drop sharply.

They think they're being noble for wearing a mask that passes the virus trough the fabric and out through the sides. Some people mask you can look at the side of their face and see their nostrils.

What I've seen on the internet is far from random. I look at the science rather than the shame.

I use to be mask fitted for my job....and I understand what a fit test is. Even with a rubber face mask it's often hard to get a proper seal....the fabric seal is useless especially when you sneeze or cough and pressurize it.

Do I wear a mask? If the sign on the door says so. It keeps the Karens happy.
Why do you have no issues with laws and store policies that require people wear shoes? Or a shirt? Why is it only masks that bother you - because it's newer?

The fact that people who argue against masks don't have a problem with shirt/shoes requirements is how I know that the argument being made against masks is only politically driven.

It is actually quite interesting that covid-19 test are coming back negative, but coronavirus antibody positives are skyrocketing, and are counted as covid-19.

Even MSNBC is reporting on it now. This is a report on their website. Even the MSM has begun to recognize this.

CDC conflates diagnostic, antibody test data creating 'inaccurate' portrayal of virus
That article is from May 21. The CDC had since corrected the mistake, and antibody tests are being reported separately.

I'm sure it's because -57 has been fitted for shoes and understands that even those shoes which have not been professionally fitted by the "shoe technologists" in the EH&S department still provide some degree of safety.

However, if -57 has been professionally fitted for a respirator they may also be required to wear STEEL TOED SHOES in the workplace and something like a sneaker or other soft-toed shoes are NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTE.

If you are in the store without your steel toed shoes you might drop a can of beans on your foot. So perhaps we all need to require everyone wear steel-toed shoes everywhere or we don't allow anyone to demand you wear shoes in their stores. It's all or nothing in this new world.

So it's probably an interesting thing to talk about.

If I were to walk into a store without a shirt it would cure all the anti-shirters. ALL OF THEM. They'd probably wear TWO shirts the next day just to try to wipe away the image....

So, what is the justification for having to wear shoes and a shirt in a business, anyway?

Whatever it is, I have not seen a single post from the anti-mask crowd decrying the rules and regulations that require shirt/shoe-wearing in the same places where masks are being required. Or even clothes in general, for that matter. Why are they not upset that their freedom to wear nothing has been taken away?

Pretty much...and understanding the leakage of the mask and the employees being in the store all day...the virus should be spreading like wildfire in the supermarkets.
This says nothing about the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of masks. I can come up with a number of conclusions from this information, some of them favorable to the anti-mask crowd, but at best, they could be used to question the necessity of masks, not the effectiveness.

1. The virus is not as contagious as some people make it out to be.

This is kind of true - there are definitely people who are overblowing it. For example, some of the people on this forum who are opposed to masks have said that if a mask doesn't stop 100% of virus particles, it's worthless because you're going to get infected (or infect others). This is not true. If you have a functional immune system, you'll most likely be able to fight off a small number of particles entering your body. The issues come when they reach a critical mass that overwhelms your immune system. Ultimately, wearing a mask will reduce the quantity of virus particles that you expel (if infected) or breath in (if healthy). Both of these things will reduce the chances of infection should you be exposed (or unknowingly infectious).

2. The virus doesn't spread by aerosol/droplet transmission.

If this were the only data on the subject, that might be a reasonable conclusion, but it isn't. There is a large body of research supporting aerosol/droplet transmission of COVID-19. If you're going to reject that research, you need to provide your own alternate explanation for their results.

3. Masks are effective at stopping the transmission of the virus.

100% filtration is not required for a mask to be effective. This is due to a number of factors. First, as I already said, it takes a critical mass of the virus in your body before you become infected. Reducing the viral load in the air, even if it's not complete, can still reduce the chances of infection. Second, even if they don't block everything, masks still reduce the velocity of particles that pass through them or deflect out the sides. This means that the cloud of particles around you is both smaller and less persistent. Coupled with proper social distancing, this greatly reduces your chances of infection.

What does any of this have to do with the free ice cream in the post I quoted?

Some posts seem very anxious to move the discussion to a certain set of right-wing talking points rather than addressing the subject being discussed. When that happens to obvious joke posts this attempt at distraction becomes even more obvious.
Some things never change.

Your argument is political.....my argument is based upon science.
