Seattle protesters declare 'cop free zone' after police leave precinct

Protesters declared a “Cop Free Zone” near where Seattle police boarded up and seemingly abandoned their East Precinct building Monday night, according to local reports -- following days of demonstrations in response to the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The surrounding area had seen more than a week of protests, with some of them growing violent.

The first night without a police presence was “rainy and peaceful and full of speeches from activists, agitators, poets and socialist city council members,” according to Capitol Hill Seattle, a self-described community-based news blog.

Since my twenties I've dealt in real-estate and been to real-estate agent school.

Property values in that area probably dropped 40% overnight. Surrounding areas 20%.

Wouldn't own a business there if you gave it to me.

Doesn't matter to the lawbreakers
most of them don't own property
and probably never will.

I don't find your claims of knowing the social make-up of a city multiple states away likely. In fact it simply looks like aspersions cast upon those whom you don't know because you disagree with their ideas.

It’s a beautiful thing. They’re in a great position to extract some concessions from local lawmakers and demonstrate how a cop on every corner really isn’t necessary to keep the peace. Looking forward to more from Seattle.

That's exactly what's happening but while some don't see it still others want it. It's the same bunch who never figure illegal applies to them, skirting the law of the land is their way of life.. This is organized, they live for these times and they have socialist left wingers on their side which have infiltrated our government system. Operatives comes to mind. This seems treasonous. Occupying whole areas to the exclusion of those who live and work there, not to mention defacing the place, eventually will lead to having to root them out ( should have already happened actually). Demands ? That's hysterical in my view.
