  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I do not know if this is being offered elsewhere, but i saw this on the news Friday evening and thought it was BRILLIANT. Covid19 keeping you away from the Church? This priest's approach is a great idea IMO.

Bowie priest offering drive-thru confessions amid calls for social distancing | WTOP

Most churches around the D.C. region are closed due to bans on large group gatherings in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. But one priest in Prince George’s County, Maryland, found a creative way to reach his flock despite calls for social distancing.

Father Scott Holmer of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Bowie is not even on social media, but he has gone viral.

Holmer was inspired by stories about drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites in South Korea, and he decided to offer the sacrament of penance in a similar way.

I've been hearing more and more about it, I think it'll catch momentum in more diocese while these lockdowns are in place.

A pastor in our diocese sat in his Jeep next to a school. He sent out tweets, Facebook messages, etc and called it “Meet me at the Jeep.”

They say times like these cause lasting cultural shifts. The greater the situation, the greater the changes. Many people are homeschooling now. Most countries have closed their borders and nationalism is bolstering.

Yeah! I posted on this a few days ago. Wondering if more parishes will follow suit. :)
Mine's been doing it for several days now. Good idea but not so unique any more. May many more parishes take it up.

Like when cops are on break and have lunch by parking their patrol cars next to each other. That's awesome.
