Doomsday Clock is 100 seconds to midnight, the symbolic hour of the apocalypse

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is moving the Doomsday Clock up to 100 seconds to midnight — a metaphor for the end of the world — in a recognition of growing threats from nuclear war, climate change and disinformation.

It is the first time the clock has passed the two-minute mark in more than 70 years of existence, a testament to the need for urgent action, the Bulletin said Thursday, as the nonprofit’s leader warned of influential leaders who “denigrate and discard the most effective methods for addressing complex threats.”

“The challenge is what do we do about it?” President Rachel Bronson told The Washington Post. In the clock’s grimmest moment ever, she believes years of dire warnings have begun to break through.

“People are starting to get it,” Bronson said, pointing to the movement ignited by teen climate activist Greta Thunberg. “But we need our leaders to be responding.”

Jerry Brown, the former California governor who serves as executive chair for the Bulletin, had a darker message after the clock was unveiled. The longtime Democratic politician said he sees “a world of vast, deep and pervasive complacency” toward the Doomsday Clock’s message across the political spectrum.

“What is being said this morning is not being heard,” Brown said. “It’s being ignored. It’s being denied.”

It's a good thing we've got Greta keeping people hyped up about things like this. They were telling us we had only 7 minutes left back in 1947, 3 minutes in 1949, and then only 2 minutes in 1953 (67 years ago)!
And they call Republicans the scaremongers! ^_^
Timeline - Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists

All they've done here is outline the fact that they've been using fear to try getting their agendas passed for a very long time. Nothing new.

People will know that time is running out when millions of people will suddenly go missing, and a leader will emerge who will unite the world in one government and religion to put things back together after the loss of so many people which put national governments and economic systems into chaos.

The Anti-Christ will not emerge until after the disappearance of millions of people around the world. The governments, infrastructure, economic systems will be put into total chaos because many who had important roles will no longer be there. There will be widespread fear and panic because no one will know where all those people went. There will be theories that they were abducted by aliens and that will aggravate the fear. Then the
Anti-Christ will emerge, who will be welcomed as the person who will put everything right and bring stability back to the world. He will set up a one-world government, because that will be the only administrative function that will work in the situation. Because the religious world will be totally "gutted" by the disappearance of pastors, elders, and committed church-goers, the Anti-Christ will take over and install a world religion that will encompass all the faiths.

I'm not actually being prophetic here. Paul says in 1 and 2 Thessalonians that there will be an event when the dead in Christ will rise first. That could mean that there will be multiple empty graves in cemeteries around the world. Then those believers who are still alive will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. So, it is Paul who is being prophetic here.

The events that I am describing afterward is just a logical outcome and measures to try and correct the total collapse of government, economies, and religious systems. It makes sense that people who will for a leader who will have the skill and means to stabilize and turn things right side up again.

It's been their only answer to everything so far.

The clock the moves backwards at times and stops at others. The same clock that people like Hal Lindsey (I think it was in his out-of-print book, "Countdown to Armageddon"), John Hagee and friends used (still do?) as an indication that were seeing the signs and the end is near. It's some Western fetish with apocalyptic scenarios and outcomes...for everything. Everything is imagined as always being in crisis, at a tipping point, the beginning of the end, nearing midnight, unsustainable, etc...
