How does the Orthodox man act in the world?
What action does he take when ?
How does he carry someone else's cross?
How does he find words to speak that which is true in each situation?
How do we live in evil times and evil situation?

How is God's Will discerned?

live the commandments and keep plugged into the sacramental life of the Church.

The 'live the commandments' is the part I require some exposition about. Or maybe just exposition on the word 'live,' because I'm not sure how one goes about 'living.'

I go about cemeteries quite often and find myself walking amidst ghosts... and my heart aches because I see the dead in my friends and my family... and sometimes myself. All things are subject to decay and everything passes so very quickly and appear to me as ghosts. But ghosts aren't living and I can't live among ghosts.

It seems like an age passes between Sundays. Looking forward to Lent.

How should one live? The internal life aiming at a heart of prayer isn't all there is, the external life is real too... how does one live?

I need a true word.

you have the commandments. the 10 Commandments, the summery of the Law, the Sermon on the Mount, the Sermon on the Plain, the Great Commandment, the Golden rule, the Council of Jerusalem, the Noahide Laws, etc. do them.

Love God. Love your neighbor. Sometimes love requires either truths that your neighbor doesn’t want to hear or that require unpleasant force to stop people from hurting or killing your neighbor. That often requires personal sacrifice. Love doesn’t mean approving whatever thsoe around you happen to want to hear, do, and think.

It does not matter whether one is orthodox, Catholic, or any flavour of protestant.
What matters is that one is seeking to follow Jesus.
We are all to show that we have faith by the good works that we do.
We are all to resist temptation and seek to do that which is right.
We may argue about being under law or under grace but Jesus's clear command is, if you love ME, you will obey Me. His command was to love God Be others. It is how we work this out that counts.

if his first question is how does the ORTHODOX man act in the world, then yes, it actually does matter that one is Orthodox.

Assuming that our labels mean anything to God.
Jesus told the Samaritan women that we are to worship in Spirit and in Truth.
He made no mention of any category of Christianity.

If the rite, rituals formulas and ceremonies of belonging to the Orthodox church help him find, but if they hinder then they should be able to be put aside.

Tolworth John - the original post by Euodius was
<<How does the Orthodox man act in the world?

Please take note of the opening sentence of that post - I have underlined it and added bolding to emphasise one word - ORTHODOX . He was specifically asking for answers in relation to how Orthodox Christians should live/act.

Is there any difference between how anOrthodox Christian and any other type of Christian will behave in there daily lives.

The only difference between what I have posted and other 'Orthodox' posters is I do not value membership of a denomination.

that's irrelevant. he asked the Orthodox view. not the generic Christian view.

For clarifications sake for my own understanding. These truths that one’s neighbor doesn’t want to hear are mainly those things that are spoken into their salvation in that moment (what the Holy Fathers’ consensus is)?

Also, what is the difference between personal sacrifice and responsibility? I would think that it’s my responsibility to using unpleasant force to stop people from hurting or killing your neighbor. Is this hurting/killing spoken in your response speaking about the soul’s life or body’s health?

thanks

Truths that we should speak (in love) to our neighbor, or brother in Christ, that they may not want to hear, are for their salvation, that is jeopardized by their (possibly willful) ignorance of those truths.

The body and soul are part of a whole, not two separate things for us to parse. But it’s easier to see someone trying to kill my neighbor than to see someone trying to destroy his soul.
