• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How does one know they are following Jesus the moment after convrsion?

I can, as completely sincerely as I know how, give my life to Christ, then...in the next moment not be sure I am actually following Him. For instance, that happened a short while ago, this morning. I was next going to set about to continue my morning prayers, but then wondered if I was actually following Him in the Spirit, moment by moment, after that. I figured I might be setting about to continue my prayers with self on the throne, in the power of the flesh, rather than with Him on the throne, in the power of the Spirit.

Can one detect, moment by moment, whether they are in the Spirit or in the flesh? What should I do the next moment after giving my life to Christ? Then the next moment, and the next?

No one cannot do this, for a simple reason it is irrelevent.
If you are Jesus's then All of your life, every single second, day and night belongs to Jesus.

All we can do is seek to live for Jesus, trusting in his total knowledge of us and of his unmeasurable love for us to understand our failures.

Typically, if this is OCD driven, it's not about trying to know as much as it is trying to FEEL that all is well with our relationship with Christ. These questions pop in and with OCD there's a level of anxiety attached to them that makes us feel compelled to seek certainty or reassurance. What those of us with OCD need to do is to just ignore these type of questions and move on in our walk for Christ. We let Him have the responsibility for our positional standing with Him because that's His work not ours. Then, we do our best to live for Him according to what we learn about in His Word. We obviously won't ever do this perfectly, which is the reason for the grace of the Cross.
