Millennials turn away from Creationism
What is immediately clear is that a move away from the special creation of human beings, as opposed to common descent, is occurring among most demographics among Millennials. Even self-described “fundamentalists” show a shift from older generations to Millennials!

Came across this blog post today. The author in question used data from the General Social Survey to look at the views of different age cohorts (i.e. generations) and whether they believe humans developed from animals.

The results show pretty clearly that younger generations are trending away from creationist beliefs. This reinforces similar demographics results from other surveys (Gallup, Pew Research, etc).

I am among the few who still believes in creationism. :)
Every Christian does believe that God created.

But there is a special view of creationism, literal reading of Genesis, 6,000 years old universe etc. And this specific creationism is mostly abandoned by young educated people, I think.

I don't think it is a "special" view, but rather the default and only consistent view.

We are, but so is being a true professing Christian.

What is interesting about the results cited in the OP is that even among those identifying as "religious fundamentalists", there is a strict decline in creationist belief in the younger generations.

Maybe, but it does not equal to literalism while reading Genesis :)

There are a lot of traditional/conservative Christian views that are in the minority, not just the biblical view of creation; this includes marriage, abortion, headship in the home, etc.

It is funny how we are considered "fundamentalists" as if we are some sort of extreme branch. It is the common opinion of all Christians. I have only experienced some "Christians" who claim different views on this site alone. In all the churches I've attended, of all the Christians I've ever known and met, of all materials I've listened to and read, these views have always been the same. My first encounter with a different view of creationism was when I heard that Tim Keller taught "Theistic Evolution." But I don't really hear much of it in the all circles, even outside of my own denomination, of any other view. It is an opinion I'm still newly hearing after all these years.

Well, young Earth creationists are Protestants, which makes them a minority for that reason alone.

The dinosaurs are going extinct again (Lol)...

And are showing a genuine lack of love and concern for the Millennial's, and a great lack of concern for science and scientific evidence, or very real and apparent truths, etc...

But they are true Christians and everyone else is not...? (yeah, Lol)...?

"That" shows a real lack of love and/or concern as well...

But, that's what dinosaurs are, real "stoics", nigh incapable of love, (most of them, etc), and they stopped searching for real truth a long, long time ago, thinking that they both know and always did know everything, etc... Forget the days of their youth, or what youth was like, etc... And don't care to know or truly understand anymore either, etc...

They don't seem to realize that it takes a heck of a lot more faith for us to believe, and a a great, great deal lot more searching and digging for truth nowadays, than it ever did for them ever in their days, or in the days of their youth, etc, and they could, (or couldn't), "care less", etc...

They are the "real Christians" though, right...?

The ones really showing true genuine love and compassion, right...? With a real "heart" for the young people, (and the lost) right...?

You guys are very much blessed, knowing nothing of our struggles, and caring nothing about it, I hope your happy in you laurels, I don't know if I would be...

Anyway,

God Bless!

I think that's the reason. Protestants by large still hold to young earth creationism, and that's the only view I've been exposed to for most of my Christian life.

I would not equate believing that the earth is 6000 years old as a doctrine. With the doctrine of believing that Jesus rose on the third day.

One is an interpretation of the scripture and the other is the primary doctrine of Christianity.

Not believing in Jesus Christ is a profound rejection of absolute truth.

Whether the Genesis account of creation is a literal truth is another question all together.

We have to work very, very hard... Much, much harder than you guys used to have to, etc, and we would like it very much if you started caring and started putting in the kind of hard of work we do, or have to, etc...

But you guys don't dare question your beliefs, I know, questions are "bad" after all right...?

Anyway,

God Bless!

It is perhaps a common opinion in the United States, but not worldwide:

From Wikipedia: Most vocal literalist creationists are from the US, and strict creationist views are much less common in other developed countries.

I have been to lutherans and they do not hold to it.

I have been to brethren church and they have various views about it.

I have been to evangelical church and they do not hold to it, allow different views about it.

I have been to charismatic churches and they do hold to YEC.

I have been to christian assemblies (its the name of a church branch) and they mostly hold to it.

So it varies a lot between protestants and I think it also varies a lot between USA and the rest of the world.
