  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This clearly says the HOUSE has sole power of Impeachment, NOT the Speaker and other Officers. None of this matters because they will never get the 2/3 vote needed for impeachment. This is just a political move to accuse Trump and try to get him to look bad. They are grasping at straws because they know he is going to win this election and there is not a lot they can do about that. But they are not going to go down without a fight.

As keeps getting explained to you, there is an impeachment investigation going on, to determine what the charges for impeachment will be. No vote is required to investigate, only when they vote on the articles of impeachment. Further, you have forgotten that impeachment by the full House only requires a simple majority (50%+1 vote) -- which the Democrats will get.

It is only the Senate, when deciding whether to convict Trump on the articles of impeachment, that requires a 2/3rds majority.

I was going by what Pat Robertson said on his program yesterday. He graduated near the top of his class at Yale Law School in 1955. What law school did you graduate from?

Which he followed by failing the Bar exam!

Lol I just looked it up & an article from the 80s - when he was already so old! - confirmed you're right. He failed the bar & never practiced law. I do give him props bc at least he did rebuke Trump for the immoral decision in regards to everything going on with Syria acknowledging that it's a callous & cruel betrayal. He said Trump is losing the mandate of heaven.

Justice Department asks judge to block House from getting Mueller grand jury materials, says Watergate decision was wrong

Just sayin', but if your impeachment defense strategy requires you to rewrite Watergate, you've got a problem.

Thoughts?

At this point it is just one of many, many things we'll have to overturn if Trump is able to withstand this opposition.

1. Mob bosses who were jailed because of recorded phone calls will have to be released from prison if they didn't use the exact phrase "quid pro quo" in the recorded phone calls.

2. Lindsay Graham will have his past retroactively replaced by something consistent with his current position (ie his positions shouted so strongly and in such a manly voice in 1998 will have be "deep faked" into something that is consistent with his current position on what is "impeachable".)

3. Nixon will be recast as an innocent lamb who was mercilessly beaten up by WaPo thugs until he HAD to leave to keep from crying in public because of all the nasty attacks on him.

4. The Bible will be re-written to eliminate the 9th commandment and to make it a virtue to have sex with a sex-worker while your wife is home taking care of your most recent spawn. Needles will have to be re-engineered to allow camels to walk through the eyes easily.

It's going to be a brave new world!

Wait, you mean you didn’t even check the constitution on this matter but you are making claims about what it says? Why don’t you quote the part of the constitution that supports your claims?

Yesterday Trump said he would NOT cooperate. Today President Trump said he would participate in the House impeachment probe if the investigation was authorized by a House vote and if Democrats commit to following rules he views as fair. So Trump is asking for a House vote based on the opinion of Pat Robertson that this procedure requires a vote.

Trump made his move, now they have to make their move.

Pat Robertson is 89 years old. He has been a christian for more then 40 years. If God was not with him he would have been gone a long time ago.

So no, you were here making all this fuss about what the constitution requires and you hadn’t even read it.

Of course Trump is trying to negotiate a special process for himself, he thinks he’s above the law. The accused criminal doesn’t get to make their own rules for the investigation. If Donald is innocent he should have no problem letting the witnesses tell the truth under oath.

That was yesterdays news. Today we are dealing with today's news. My history teacher in High School was a holocaust survivor. He was the one that taught me to keep up with the news and current events. He lived to be 100. Trump was elected to office and he is going to be re elected. I appreciate that the liberals are doing what they can to stop him, but they will not succeed this time anymore then they did last time. Because they are the ones that are lawless, so that is why they accuse people like Trump that actually follows the law.

Then why has he not been found guilty in court? Hmmmm.
The court, the Judicial Branch, does not have jurisdiction over the Executive Branch, only Congress has oversight.

Can I trust Trump that if Pelosi calls for a vote Wednesday and it succeeds that he will comply?

Can I trust you to call him a liar if he fails to?

And then went on to fail the New York bar exam. He is not a lawyer and not an expert in Constitutional law.

Trump's position means nothing as he has NO legal authority over how the House conducts an impeachment inquiry. Which part of the House "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment" is unclear?

Who is Trump?

He has no authority over congress or the impeachment process. He must do as they say or face impeachment for obstruction of Congress. He is in no position to negotiate over the terms of this investigation.

Do you notice Trump's weasel words, "if Democrats commit to following rules he views as fair." I'm guessing the "rules" Trump would find fair is if Democrats aren't allowed to ask any questions or call any witnesses, that all the witnesses must be called and questioned by Rudy Giuliani. As others have pointed out, if you are accused of breaking a crime and are about to be indicted, you cannot go to the DA and negotiate the rules for the Grand Jury. And that is exactly what Impeachment is, it is decided what the President is being charged with -- being Impeached by the House is essentially the equivalent of being indicted by a Grand Jury.

There's evil people who make it beyond 100. I mean there's been Nazis in their 90s who are finally found & brought to justice. I mean I'm not at all saying that he's evil but your lolgic is funny. You're the one who felt it necessary to bring up that he went to law school despite that he never passed the bar or actually worked as a lawyer so maybe do your homework next time. Apparently your point is that he was smart enough to go to an elite law school - btw a super long time ago when it wasn't nearly as hard to get in - but I mean you kind of shot that argument down right away bc you didn't bother to learn that he wasn't able to pass the exam necessary to actually work in law.

Of course he's mainly been in the news this week bc he's had the integrity to condemn Trump's morally depraved decision that will lead to our allies being killed. So yeah he gets things right sometimes. I remember him being brought up in conversations on CF b4 bc he has called belief in young earth creationism deaf, dumb, blind and stupid. So on that he's also right!

Good plan in theory, but it seems Rudy might be a bit occupied with other matters in the near term :

Giuliani's relationship with arrested men subject of criminal investigation: Sources

The business relationship between President Donald Trump's private lawyer Rudy Giuliani and the men charged Thursday in a campaign finance scheme is a subject of the ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by federal authorities in New York, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The investigation became public after the FBI had to quickly move to arrest Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman before they boarded a flight out of the country from Washington Dulles Airport with one-way tickets.

There's evil people who make it beyond 100.
God gives us 70 years or if for reason of strength 80. Beyond that we have to add years to our life. Corrie Tan Boon was out doing evangelistic work and she was approached by the most evil guard in the concentration camp that she had been put in for protecting "Jewish" people. He said that he knew that God forgave him, but did she forgive him? Actually the answer was no, she did not. But then God did a work in her heart and she was able to forgive. Today they are both in Heaven. IF we want to get into Heaven we have to love everyone that is there. If there is ONE person we do not love, we do not forgive, then we do not get to go to Heaven. After WW2 there was a lot of repentance in Germany. Good that God is slow to anger and always ready to forgive those who repent and turn away from their evil ways. Clearly we are told to love our enemy in the hope they will repent and be born again as they come to a saving knowledge of the truth.

It's impossible to know just from a thread title alone if an article is from The Onion or not.
That sounds like Poe's law. They say he is still around but I do not know what name he is using now a days.
