  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We cannot live righteously is correct.

I never said that we cannot live righteously. I believe that believers by the power of Christ working in them can live a righteous and or holy life (after they are forgiven of their sins).

But it is not futile to live righteously.

Before you gave me the impression that it is impossible to live righteously. Are you now saying it is possible?

You said:
What does this scripture mean to you? 1 Corinthians 15:31 "I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily."

I asked you to explain other verses for me, and you have not explained them. I think it is only fair that you explain those verses before I explain some for you.

Besides, I have to get to sleep, as well.
So any future discussions will have to wait.

Blessings to you in the Lord (even if we strongly disagree on what the Bible plainly says).

See that's not what it says, you made up your own way. It just says he was humble and asked God for mercy.

So Jesus did not say "sin no more" to two people?

So you are sinless now?

Again, this is not about me. I don't believe Sinless Perfection is a salvation issue. The Bible teaches that there are sins that do not lead to death. I believe we have to put away grievous sin. But this discussion will have to wait for another time. I have to sleep.

Goodnight to you.

Well I think you should try to live righteously but not boast in it. Which means you shouldn't say people are damned and headed for the lake of fire which is judging the sinner.

Jesus was impeccable so of course he would say that, not that they could achieve that.

But why would Jesus who is perfect tell them to do something that is impossible? It makes no sense. Jesus said to the man he healed to " sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee." (John 5:14). This suggests that if he sinned again, a worse thing than his being crippled would come upon him. This means that Jesus did expect for the man to stop in whatever sin he was doing.

Also, to tell somebody to stop sinning with the words "sin no more" would be a lie if Jesus knew that they could not really stop in their sin. Are you saying that Jesus simply did not know that they could not stop sinning and this was a flaw of Jesus?

Well I think you should try to live righteously but not boast in it. Which means

Nowhere did I boast in living righteously here. Remember, I prefer not to talk about things on a personal level and to stick with discussing with what the Bible says alone. I do this because it is in line with forum rules and it focuses on the Bible in what it says (Which is the standard of living) and not on any one person's life (Which is not the standard of living).

You said:
you shouldn't say people are damned and headed for the lake of fire which is judging the sinner.

Jesus said to judge righteously (John 7:24). Also, I never said to anyone personally here that they are going to the Lake of Fire. In fact, no man's life is written yet. Men still have a chance to repent, so I cannot possibly know who will reconcile with the Lord before they die. I am talking in terms of what the Bible says on this matter. Don't shoot the messenger. I am just relaying to you what the Bible says.

Again, who is the unprofitable servant who was cast into outer darkness in Matthew 25:21? This cannot be an unbeliever because unbelievers are not servants of Christ. This was a servant of Christ who was unprofitable for the Lord's Kingdom. Some Eternal Security proponents have suggested that "outer darkness" is a place in Heaven, but I seriously doubt that there is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth in Heaven. How so? Jesus says to the the Jews in Luke 13:28 that they will be thrust out of God's kingdom in regards to their weeping and gnashing of teeth.

"There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out." (Luke 13:28).

So not only will the unbelieving Jews be cast out and weep and gnash their teeth, but servants of Christ (unprofitable servants) will do the same, as well. Oh, and Jews are not servants to Christ because they rejected Christ or their Messiah.

Yes you did by saying others will go to the lake of fire but you will not.

But I did not name any names or refer to anyone directly. I am referring to what the Bible says on this matter. Again, I am just relaying to you what the Bible says. Don't shoot the messenger.

Sure but the bible says we all go to the lake of fire.

Yes you did by saying others will go to the lake of fire but you will not.

Do you believe in Universalism? This is the belief that everyone will be saved.
If a person does not adhere to Universalism, then they automatically are judging others to damnation silently in the fact that they did not believe on Jesus for salvation. How is that any different than what we are talking about here? The Bible states conditions of being saved and or not saved. Discussing what the Bible says and not finger pointing to any one specific person is not judging on a personal level. We are just discussing what the Bible says here on the topic of Soteriology.

No it doesn't. There is a first group that go to the eternal new earth.

1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:1-8).

I believe all are sinners and that Jesus is judge and will decide who goes to the lake of fire and who doesn't.

Matthew 7:23 is one example. Jesus said to certain believers who did wonderful works in his name to depart from Him because they also worked iniquity. Iniquity is sin. So yes. They did good works, but they also worked some kind of sin, as well. This is why Jesus told them to depart from Him. In fact, the WHOLE chapter supports this plain reading of this verse, as well. Matthew 7:26-27 says that the person who does not do what He says they are a like a fool who built their house upon the sand and when a storm came, great was the fall of that house. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus says that not everyone who says unto Him "Lord, Lord" will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that does the will of the Father. This means that just crying out to God alone that one is a sinner is not the qualification alone. There needs to be something more. To do the will of the Father. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 says God's will is our Sanctification (i.e. holy living).

In fact, God's Word tells us to be ye holy, as I am holy.
Why would God's Word tell us to do something that is impossible?
Did not Jesus say that with God all things are possible?

Please stop trying to make this personal and stick with what the text actually says.
You said before that all people go to the Lake of Fire. I have shown that by the context, this is simply not true. There are people that enter the New Earth.

You can quote scripture all you want but the truth is you don't decide who goes to hell, neither does scripture and that's what scripture tells us. Only God will decide that. do you disagree?
