Some of us retain the information better by hearing but I visually prefer reading to absorb the info. When I want to remember something I write it down and read the words; my mind speaks the words internally and it seems to lock in what I am reading. My favorite way to read the Bible from cover to cover is to listen to a good audio Bible while reading along. This way all the difficult to pronounce words are perfectly pronounced for you and the reading is more enjoyable.
Reading from cover to cover is an important study. It helps you connect the beginning with the end and see how amazingly it all fits together. You will be blessed.
Never tried the read while listening. Will have to try that and good idea. My youngest is dyslexic and his teacher said reading along with audio is a great way to increase his comprehension. We tried it with his assigned reading and it really helps. My favorite way to read the Bible from cover to cover is to listen to a good audio Bible while reading along. Great news!Pretty sure that I've read it all once, though not cover to cover. I've been following a one year reading plan and will be through it November 6.
I think what kept me honest is as some mentioned a one year plan. There is one I’ve done six of eight years called the M'Cheyne reading plan. It will get you through the OT once in a year and the NT and Psalms twice in a year.
I used others as well which will take one year entire Bible. Kept me honest using the YouVersion Bible App.
This year I am using the MacArthur One Year Bible.
Just 5 chapters a night for a year should be about right to get through the Bible without a plan.I had periods in my life where I was living in an empty apartment, jobless without TV and internet (oh my!)...and all I had was a library of theological books and the bible. I literally spent days just absorbing it as a hobby. Then I slowed down when I had a job for about a year, then I was jobless again and did it again for a whole year. I try to get in at least five chapters as a habit, more if I feel like it since I've had this job.
The bible plan I recommend is the 52 week plan, M'Cheyne's is great too!
I downloaded and printed this one One Year Bible Reading Plan Download I listen to and read the verses at Biblegateway .com. Didn't sign up for anything.I need a way to make sure I never miss a day while trying to read my Bible from cover to cover.
