  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi His, right on. Paul wrote of those who teach such things as being anathema. And as he writes in the rest of Galatians that is no good news at all.my aunt was in a church where it was works and she got to the point she spend hours grocery shopping praying over each item. Sad to say it all became a crushing load to carry and she killed herself.

Scripture tells us through Paul the Law held us in a cell unable to work for the Lord but we have not only been saved for good works we have been freed from that cell to do those good works

Wow, what a shock. I knew a woman from the denomination I was raised in who believed the Great Tribulation was going to target our denomination only. It frightened her so badly she killed her newborn baby.

I have since given up ALL denominations.

Is Confession of Sin Necessary for Salvation?
No. All that is required is to agree with God regarding your condition of being spiritually dead and in need of His life. Then you agree with God that the only provision He has provided is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You receive His life and in that life you receive the benefit of the forgiveness He has already provided at the cross. There is no need to confess sin He is not counting against us.

Cats, Leviticus is a book in the Bible and was written by Moses thousands of years before America was discovered. We are not referring to the American laws about trespassing on private property. Something like unwittingly hurting someone's feelings is a trespass to God. It can be something like an accident.

I know what Leviticus is - and also that it was written long before my native language existed. But when I read the word trespass, I cannot for the life of me think of anything except walking onto somebody else's property or a construction zone. That is just the way my brain works.

It is like a debt. In the Lord's Prayer some translations use the word, "debt," other translations use "trespass" and other's use "sin" which is wrong as it is too broad.

what a simply awful story. What were the shepherds he raised up poisoning the sheep. Cannot even try to grasp why the baby had to die instead of herself. The heart truly is wicked above all things

I said I voted for option 2. This means that I hold to 1 John 2:1, and 1 John 1:9.
Meaning: These verses are referring to Christ as the One we confess sin to in order to have and or maintain forgiveness (salvation).

But, this isn't obvious to everyone, since people confess to humans believing that will absolve them of their sins.

No human has authority when it comes to absolving sins, and determining our trajectory after this life except for the individual. It is important that people understand we confess our sins to the Most High God, as He is the one who does the forgiving/condemning.

She was trying to save her baby from the future Great Tribulation because she knew she wouldn't take the mark of the beast and be saved from beheading.

What were the shepherds he raised up poisoning the sheep.

Are you talking about their teaching? I was in it but never killed my parents to save them. She was the first I'd heard of. She spent 30 years in an asylum, and now lives with her (same) husband and goes to my mother's church. They never had more children. Now that mom has passed, I never visit up there anymore.

I love God because He first loved me. Receiving His life, as I stated previously, through faith in Jesus Christ is making Him my King and Savior. Grace and Peace.

I am sorry and hope this doesn’t sound course but it like reading a stephen king novel. I don’t think I could be more stunned and then the second installment came. I am more stunned. Can’t blame you for no longer visiting.

I chose the 2nd option in the poll.
I chose "I don't know" and it looks like I am the only one who does not know which is interesting. I wonder how everyone else who responded with a "vote" does know.

Even after I left the denomination in 1970 which shook my foundation to the core. See we are taught that we have "the Truth." I then doubted any other denomination had the whole truth, so I went to the boss, and asked God to teach me privately. I'd go around talking to myself about this scripture and that one and He would suddenly fill me with the correct interpretation. I was in a Bible Study a couple years ago where none of them had ever heard what I teach about sin. I almost got drummed out of there. Then one of the ladies, a 90 year old retired missionary said she had been getting monthly booklets from a ministry in Texas. She said he's really hard for her to understand, but he seems to be teaching the same message I am, so I got on his mailing list. Sure enough, he too decades ago was told by God to not teach anything from a denomination, just preach the Word and He'll tell him what to teach. And guess what - we teach the very same message - radical to others but perfectly in sync with all other scripture. I found one other like us. I love to talk to him because we speak the same language.

I voted other, but it would take a book to explain.

Much nicer story. I am glad the Lord has chosen to deal with you as He has and may it always be so until you talk to Him face to face. God bless

Taking exactly what the OP asks....does one need to confess their sin in order to be saved?

The answer? NO. Not in the way that some are thinking. Such doesn't mean ones who don't understand this exactly right won't be saved....God works with them with the knowledge they have.

OK no you don't have to confess your sin that is at the time of salvation. Of course you do need to acknowledge you're a sinner as being your lost state. If you don't grasp that why would you need a Savor? You wouldn't. But understanding your state as being a sinner is not the same as confession of sin. What God is saying in the gospel is understand you're a sinner but now acknowledge the Lordship of Christ which you're choosing to identify with. That provides the break for one from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of LIGHT.

Now of course it's not just identifying in and of itself but it's connected to what Jesus actually did on the cross. So then your sins of the past....the past life.....the old man are remitted. That means blotted out. No if you think of a sin you committed 3 years before you received Christ NO you don't have to confess them.....THEY'VE BEEN BLOTTED OUT!

However ONCE you've become a Christian if you sin those sins need to be confessed and the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from them.

Is Confession of Sin Necessary for Salvation?
Confession is about healing, the healing of relationships both between YHWH and I, and other believers and I. Before YHWH we know that we have forgivness so we can approach Him boldly admitting our failures and resting in His Grace. Confession keeps the book open and allows Him to heal us and mold us.
Between believers it about honesty and forgivness, and closeness that allows our relationships with one another to become stronger and more Loving.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5

Confessing your sins to "one another", just means to be honest about yourselves with one another, and not what some would take that to mean though, cause that's just "freaky" and kind of scary to me...

I mean, yeah, sure, there might be a time and place for that, but if someone is doing it all the time and constantly, and "lives there" basically, and does this in front of "everyone and anyone" and "all of the time", or is, again, "living there" basically, then I think they might need seek professional, and perhaps "private", psychiatric help basically...

Anyway, confessing your sins to "one another", just means to be honest about yourselves with one another, and not being deceitful and dishonest, and also make sure that one another is seeking to always be and do better also, (building each other up) but at the same time, just only being honest with one another about where you are currently at and not lying about it, etc...

God Bless!
