  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Episcopal and Anglican, are protestant?

all kind of images
The commandment regarding graven images has to be taken in context of the full commandment, not just the bit at the beginning, and the context is clearly about creating idols to worship as gods. A quick skim through all the references to idols in the Old Testament confirms this.

You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Yes, it's true. And, for those who think there is something singularly Roman Catholic about this succession business, Rome also recognizes the validity of the Apostolic Succession of the churches of the Union of Utrecht which, as you noted, are in full communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Would this over power official Vatican statements like the Apostolicae Curae though?

I would guess that the answer is "no," but it could easily be considered to be a contradiction to it.

It surely shows that the issue is not nearly as uncomplicated as some people have been trying to paint it.

Well, no one can depict God the Father but we can with the Son of God because he became flesh

Until God became man, He had no form which could be depicted, hence the Old Testament prohibition.
Since becoming man, God has been seen and has a form which can be depicted. Creating icons of Christ is actually a defense of the incarnation, since there were those who denied God had come in the flesh.

you need to read the gospel of john chapter 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

The Moslems are completely against all images. Your view has more in common with them than Christianity.
religions have their ups and downs, but at the end christianity triumphs

I don't know about that. I do know the Bible says no where that God hates images and that is a gross error to say that, muslims say that not Christians.

Where in Scripture does it say that God hates images? Where in Scripture does it say that everything must be in Scripture? Where in Scripture does it say that one go by Scripture alone? Where in Scripture does t say that a single person can interpret it by themselves? No one said anything about worshiping images except you.

Does not say God hates images and you did not quote the whole context. Let's quote the whole thing:

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me

You see you neglected to add verse 5 which no one is bow down and worshiping images like icons.
